"Good afternoon," John said as all the students filed in. "It's good to see all of you here more or less in one piece.

"Today, being our last class, your assignment is to do a tune up on your respective cars. That could involve any or all of the things you've learned." He paused. "I know this past weekend has been... traumatic for some of you. If you feel the need for someone to talk to, I -- or any of the other teachers I'm sure -- will listen.

"But barring that, let's see how well you've learned your lessons, shall we?"

Concentrating carefully on the task at hand, Cal threw his focus into working on the car, doing a fairly good job, which was good. He needed to sort of get his hands into something and not screw it up to lift his mood a little. He could potentially really get into this care maintenance thing as catharsis...

Kevin was pretty sure he caught everything that needed to be done on his car, but he double checked just to be sure. He wouldn't put it past his teacher stuff in a stray pair of underpants somewhere.

Dick started to fix up his car as quickly and efficiently as he could. His goal was to get the entire thing tuned up (in order according to the syllabus) before the end of the period, but he didn't quite get the new battery installed, meaning the wipers and coolant were left as well.
