Intergalactic Justice, Tuesday Period One

"Good morning!"

Jim was exceptionally chipper this morning. Whether or not this was a good thing was up to the beholder, really. He was also, intermittently, making scary sound effects. "Bad guys!" For emphasis, he wrote the words on the blackboard, then underscored them three times. "They're really, really evil. Such maliciousness like the universe has never seen before."

Helpfully, he added the words 'really really evil' to the blackboard. "Across the galaxy, you will find these 'fiends'," he added the word 'fiend', "Doing all kinds of nefarious stuff, like trying to DESTROY THE UNIVERSE or stealing lollipops from babies!" He was exceptionally offended. "As the deliverers of INTERGALACTIC JUSTICE, it is our sworn duty to crush, pound, blast, destroy, incinerate these horrible, no good baby spooking, water guzzling, book stealing, jaywalking... PEONS of PERIL!"

He wrote it down. 'Peons' had an 'a' in it. "Now," he continued, switching back to calm mode, "In order to fight these devils of destruction, you've got to be able to recognize them. They could be anything! Like cats and crows and really really ugly bugs, yich. In fact, the very progenitor of maliciousness is this guy!"

He drew a little charicature of a cat with really big fangs. "Evil the Cat! No creature more despicably, demeaningly BAD has ever set foot anywhere in the cosmos! Be careful, my fellow chums of the light, for he does REALLY BAD STUFF!"

He added 'REALLY BAD STUFF!!!' under the picture. "Sometimes, evil comes in disguise. There is only one way to uncover it-- we must understand the very nature of BAD! I know it will be a difficult task, class, but there is no other way to deal with this... half of you must find the evil in your souls, and half of you must SHINE like a RAY of JUSTICE and question them-- WHAT makes BAD so GOOD to these people?"

He thwacked the blackboard with a ruler. "I wish you good luck."

[ wait for the ocd up! ]

So... Professor Jim was just going to divide everyone into "good" and "bad", with no room for shades of gray? And mercilessly crush anyone he'd labeled "bad"???

...Not that Sokka'd ever done that. No, sir. *cough*

Anyway. He sure wasn't going to get anywhere trying to press that point. And it wasn't as fun. He had a better question to ask.

"So... Is the cat friends with cows and goldfish, then?"

Ino, having totally crashed when she'd gotten back to her room yesterday afternoon, was now bright-eyed and very giggly.

Alice wondered if the Cat knew about this Evil Cat. Perhaps they were chums.

Alex was confused. He thought the cows were evil. Or something.

By this point in the class, Lee just took what Jim said as fact. He was weird but he was too excited about everything not to be telling some truth.

Sokka looked around for a partner, ready to be good and/or bad, for JUSTICE!

"Why is it always black and white?" Marco asked as he sat down. "Why can't it be purple or green or blue or something?"

"Blue, yellow, green, and red," Sokka agreed. Sort of agreed. His mind was slightly elsewhere. "But red isn't always bad..."

Sam was trying to look like this class topic wasn't bothering him at all as he looked around for a partner.

Ino quirked her eyebrows at him. "Don't like the topic?" A beat. "Need a partner?"

Best to cover both parts of it really.

"I just think there's more sides to things than just good or just evil. And yeah, I could use a partner," Sam said.

Oh, this should be interesting.

Turtle was tempted to be evil just for something different, but, no. She was too much of a champion for good and justice. She looked around for someone evil-looking. Too bad Meg was graduated...

Alice nodded to Turtle. "Shall we take Good Alice and Bad Alice, then?" she asked. "I could play either; I certainly have frequently enough."
