Paranoia & First Aid, Period 3, 4 Jun '08

"Squirrels are near ever-present on this island." Mohinder wasn't looking around at that, as he stood at the front of the classroom, computers arrayed on the desks in front of him. "And the radio station has a great deal of, however dubious or rum-tinted, information about this island's inhabitants."

"Away from here, closed circuit television monitors an ever greater proportion of our lives, there exists satellite capable of photographing a car parked on a street and surveillance equipment that has grown ever more sensitive. More difficult to detect.." He held up a small electronic - deactivated - bug, and summarised the topic.

"There's a lot of information if you look for it." Mohinder was neutral on whether that was a good idea as he continued. "Take a seat at one of these computers and see what you can find about yourself."

[OCD is up!]

A sharply crooked smirk slowly spread across Adah's expression. "None that would be so terribly obvious as to upset any sort of balance. If there's anything that I'm not, Doctor, it's an idiot. I can assure you that I am most likely to be one of a very small percentage of females enrolled in a medical program at my school, much less one with a disability, which means I'll have to fight tooth and nail for any of my advances to be taken seriously in the first place, and I'm not terribly fond of too much attention, besides. I'd be a fool to let the advances I've learned of here to slip by my notice of benefit entirely, and just as much a fool to take them for granted and be careless about them."

The grin dropped off Adah's face rather quickly, her good shoulder sagging with her slowly released groan. "You had to remind me, didn't you? Did you know that I had the exact code of DNA that causes hemiplegia emboldened on my flank that day?" If there was anyone who could appreciate that fact, Adah figured it would be the genetics scientist. "And do you know how awkward a two-legged limp is? And ironic, too. Don't they shoot horses when they're lame?"

"I'm fairly certain," Adah commented lightly, "that a horse with only half its working limbs wouldn't be considered any more useful or worthy of life than one with a three quarters working limbs."
