How to Be the Best at What You Do - Thursday, Period 2
Logan didn't look like he was in a good mood this morning. Not that he often looked like he was in a good mood, but it was a little more clear this time. Before the workshop started, he could probably be heard to mutter something about a stupid Danger Room and stupid programming and words that shouldn't be repeated about electronics in general and why couldn't we just go back to the wild, except keep the breweries. Anyway, he wasn't even wearing his hat. That was on a table today.
"Pay attention, 'cause I'm not repeating anything this week," Logan said when he was ready to start. "Sometimes you can think things through with your creative skills. Other times you need to focus less on your mental dexterity and more on your physical dexterity. If you can use your hands, you can do a lot. It makes you a better fighter, it lets you play music better, it lets you do surgery more efficiently... And if you can focus enough to actually improve your dexterity, you can apply that same focus to pretty much anything. It takes some effort, but so does everything if you're gonna be the best."
"I've got three things for you today to test your dexterity. If you wanna go solo, we've got the classic game, Operation. Just be glad I didn't up the intensity of the vibration if you touch the sides. I could've set the Danger Shop to shock you."
"If you want competition, thumb wrestling. Better yet, no disqualification thumb wrestling. If you can flex your mental dexterity and cheat, more power to you. But if you hurt your partner at all, you'll regret it."
"No matter what you decide to do, you're getting something to work on." Logan picked up his hat and pulled a poker chip out of it. "Poker players have all sorts of chip tricks they like to do to help with dexterity. This one is called the knuckle roll."
Logan balanced a chip on his thumb, then showed off as the chip rolled across his knuckles with ease. "Take one of these, figure out how to do the trick, and work on it. Two weeks from today I want to see you able to do something with it. Speaking of which, I won't be here next week. You'll be dealing with Z. Treat her good or you'll probably regret that, too."
[OOC:Heading off to sleep now, then afk for work. I'll be around by 8 PM EDT or so.
Yeah, that was a lie. I was at work longer than expected. And now I'm exhausted and need sleep. Ugh.]

Re: OOC [WS3]
Although it does occur to me that I don't have a single character in the game at the moment with parents who are alive. Peter's? Plane crash. Dick? Mob. Jolee? Presumably old age. Logan? Murdered and suicided a century ago.
Clearly, I should drop Little Orphan Annie into the future journals post.
Re: OOC [WS3]
SHE DOESN'T HAVE PARENTS.
Re: OOC [WS3]
Her parents are WOLVERINE'S DNA AND SCIENCE. OTP.
Re: OOC [WS3]
Re: OOC [WS3]
Re: OOC [WS3]
...Kerrigan? Killed hers accidentally. Jeff? Fears his mother more than life. Jim? Worms.
...
And then there's Cable.
Re: OOC [WS3]
Teddy - cancer and eaten by Galactus
Renee - Disowned for being gay
Tony - orphaned
Temari - Mom died giving birth, dad was evil and killed by a creepy snake guy.
Re: OOC [WS3]
Ella - illness
Romeo - grief
Tyler - cancer (IC)/died of being utterly missing in canon (OOC)
Re: OOC [WS3]
Carmela's parents: Are freaking awesome and surprisingly tolerant of the fact that two of their children could say something like "BRB, going to moon" and *actually be serious*.
Wes's dad: Makes numerous attempts to steal/adapt Ranger technology for his own, and attempts to bribe Wes and his teammates into joining his private militia.
So except for Wes, kinda, since that hasn't happened yet for him, my kids all have relatively boring family lives. *feels left out*
Re: OOC [WS3]
Lion-o's dad is going to die when his planet blows up.
Mike's parents are alive and well, except Mike's dad left his mom for a stripper at a bachelor party in the series finale.
Hoshi's parents are technically alive, but they're so distant with her that it's like they're not there at all.
And Mary sorta killed her dad.
Re: OOC [WS3]
Marco: Mom was taken over by an alien parasite who staged her death. Marco nearly had to sacrifice her twice for the greater good. She also got shot, stabbed, tortured, and rescued by a gorilla. Oh, and his dad went all emo for two years leaving Marco to fend for himself. Then he married Marco's math teacher. And got rescued by a gorilla.
Cimorene: Parents were more interested in proper then Cimorene.
Re: OOC [WS3]
Jenny: Parents died on the Titanic, parents' fortune stolen, taken in by godfather Albert Einstein.
JP: Parents died in a car crash when he was a baby, adopted by his aunt and uncle, who died when he was a kid, taken in by Raymonde Belmonde, who died in front of him after he grew up. Also, his twin sister's batshit.
Steve: Dad died when he was a kid, mom toiled to support them, then died while he was still like a teenager.
Z: I'm assuming they're dead, canon just has her homeless with no real explanation.
Zero: Both parents are alive and her family is completely astonishingly functional. Hurrah!
Re: OOC [WS3]
Robin: Parents only ever mentioned in canon once.
Tim: Dad disappeared when he was six and then died of twist ending. Mom, dating Faust.
Clark Kent: Real parents died of Planet Explody, foster dad died of heart attack.
