How to Be the Best at What You Do - Thursday, Period 2

Logan didn't look like he was in a good mood this morning. Not that he often looked like he was in a good mood, but it was a little more clear this time. Before the workshop started, he could probably be heard to mutter something about a stupid Danger Room and stupid programming and words that shouldn't be repeated about electronics in general and why couldn't we just go back to the wild, except keep the breweries. Anyway, he wasn't even wearing his hat. That was on a table today.

"Pay attention, 'cause I'm not repeating anything this week," Logan said when he was ready to start. "Sometimes you can think things through with your creative skills. Other times you need to focus less on your mental dexterity and more on your physical dexterity. If you can use your hands, you can do a lot. It makes you a better fighter, it lets you play music better, it lets you do surgery more efficiently... And if you can focus enough to actually improve your dexterity, you can apply that same focus to pretty much anything. It takes some effort, but so does everything if you're gonna be the best."

"I've got three things for you today to test your dexterity. If you wanna go solo, we've got the classic game, Operation. Just be glad I didn't up the intensity of the vibration if you touch the sides. I could've set the Danger Shop to shock you."

"If you want competition, thumb wrestling. Better yet, no disqualification thumb wrestling. If you can flex your mental dexterity and cheat, more power to you. But if you hurt your partner at all, you'll regret it."

"No matter what you decide to do, you're getting something to work on." Logan picked up his hat and pulled a poker chip out of it. "Poker players have all sorts of chip tricks they like to do to help with dexterity. This one is called the knuckle roll."

Logan balanced a chip on his thumb, then showed off as the chip rolled across his knuckles with ease. "Take one of these, figure out how to do the trick, and work on it. Two weeks from today I want to see you able to do something with it. Speaking of which, I won't be here next week. You'll be dealing with Z. Treat her good or you'll probably regret that, too."

[OOC: Heading off to sleep now, then afk for work. I'll be around by 8 PM EDT or so.

Yeah, that was a lie. I was at work longer than expected. And now I'm exhausted and need sleep. Ugh.]

Jamie sat over the game board with the damn tweezers. He had his face screwed up in concentration and had his tongue sticking out to the side.

Reno raised an eyebrow at the game, but finally shrugged, shook his head, and picked up the... tweezer things.

All in all, he wasn't doing half badly. If it had been rigged to zap him when he made a mistake, he might have even done poorly on purpose. It was more interesting that way.

Blair, who was reluctant to touch classmates if she didn't have to, went for the Operation game. She worked slowly, being too much of a perfectionist to tolerate the idea of hitting the sides.

Lion-o had never seen this game before because he was a deprived child. He had really good reflexes, though, so it didn't take long to take out all the pieces.

Jack took the game and the tweezers and started removing stuff. His hand was actually fairly steady, until he got overconfident on the funnybone. *BZZZT* "Dammit!"

Sora was so there for Operation! Even if he did buzz the sides a few times in his excitement.

Jamie and a dupe started a thumb war.

It let to bloody knuckles.

Eventually they just started smacking each other.

Johnny hadn't played thumb war since he was a kid. Might as well give it a shot.

Marco hated Operation, so he sat down, twiddling his thumbs and waiting for an opponent.

Reno was all over this one. Something else to do with his fingers when he got bored.

...

If the damn poker chip would just stop getting away.

Michael went for the poker chip game and started practising.

He didn't even cheat. Much.

His first twenty attempts, Andrew dropped the chip each time. On the twenty-first, he flicked the chip away and just plopped his head down on the desk.

This was as difficult as it looked, but he was working on it and he would continue to do so until he got it right.

Blair selected a chip and started trying to learn the trick. It could come in handy on co-ed poker nights.

After taking a moment to consider how small her hands were, Turtle ruled out a thumb war. She considered Operation, but that was nothing new. This poker chip trick was pretty cool, and she decided she could totally use it to show off to stupid Doug Hoo at the next Sunset Towers holiday gathering, so she was going to work really, really hard until she got it.

Anyone within a foot of Marco was liable to get smacked by a flying poker chip.

The TA was here, and probably far more approachable than the teacher. After all, she didn't snikt at people.
