Intergalactic Justice, Tuesday Period One

There were a lot of glass spheres at the front of the class. And paper. And pitchers of something watery. And toothpicks. And--

"Today," Jim said, with fiendish determination, "We are going to be talking about the universe. It's really, really big. It's so big you can't see stuff on the other end. You could say we can't tell what it looks like, buuuut that'd be wrong."

He held up a snowglobe. It had the Eiffel Tower and a little plastic cow in it. "This is what the universe looks like!" He grinned. Like an idiot. "We're all living in a giant snowglobe, kids! Now remember that snowglobes aren't indestructable, no matter what the nice made in China people put on the label. You wanna make sure," he tapped the edge of the globe. A little hard. "That it doesn't break. Because that would be bad."

He pointed at the tables. "So today, we are learning about snowglobes!" He was very enthusiastic. "Have at, you wee cow-clobbering, snow-loving defenders of the cosmos! Make your snowglobe SHINE!" Pause. "But don't use anything radioactive, that might violate my parole."

Did he even have parole? He'd have to call Peter.

Gwen was rapidly growing increasingly concerned about this teacher.

Turtle's head tilted. The universe. As a snowglobe. It would have to be a rather large snowglobe, wouldn't it? And, if you were in a tropical part of the universe, could you really even still call it a snowglobe? Maybe a sunglobe. Or a coconut globe...

Turtle shook her head, breaking the reverie, wondering if that whole thing that happened there meant she'd been spending way too much time with Jeff.

Ino stared at the teacher, so not in the mood for this today, and wishing that they were shooting cows instead. Seriously. Mindless violence was way better than snowglobes.

Sam had certainly heard stranger explanations for the universe, but that didn't mean the snowball thing wasn't strange.

Marco blinked and tried to figure out how he can make this even more insane.

Well, the universe-as-snowglobe metaphor made sense to Sokka, but as for the rest of it... Jim was more insane than Deadpool, that was for sure.

He raised his hand. "So, can you teach us how to use our little snowglobes to protect the BIG snowglobe of the universe?"

"But you don't want it to get BROKEN, do you?" Sokka asked. "That's not justice!"

"Yes, sir," Sokka replied. "Very good point, sir." Best not to argue with the crazy person. And senseless violence was always fun, as long as you had an appropriate target.

He pointed at the Eiffel-Tower-and-cow globe. "But THIS snowglobe isn't a universe," he pointed out. "I checked."

Lee knew the universe was big but he'd never get the snowglobe thing out of his head now.

It had never occurred to Alice that the universe would be snowglobe-shaped.

This class was terribly educational.
