"Networking is about more than meeting people," Nathan said once the group had gathered. "It's learning how people you meet can be useful to them and - just as important - how you can be useful to them.

"One of the first ways you can be useful is by being what's called a connector. You may not be able to help someone in front of you, but you know someone who can. Think of it like when your doctor gives you a referral, only more personal and less likely to involve needles."

Nathan grinned. Nathan liked to think he was funny.

"Today I want you to connect. Take people in the group and introduce them to other people. Don't just give names, help make the connection. State why you think the two of them will get along. 'This is Jane Smith, she breeds Dalmatians. Jane, this is my good friend John Doe, he's looking to buy his kids a puppy.' For the purpose of the class you can make it up if you have to, but bonus points to anybody who can remember anything from the introductions you did last week.

"The more connections, the better," Nathan said. "It earns good karma for when you'll need something later on. So good luck and Lana and I are here if you have any questions."

Be awesome through introductions.

Hinata glanced around for someone to introduce to someone else. Or for someone to introduce her to someone else.

She wasn't sure, really, which she'd prefer.

Chris spotted Hinata and realized she looked nervous.

"Hey," he said, walking over to her.

She shot him a smile, trying not to look too nervous. "Hello, d-do you think, s-since we've t-talked before that it counts as already h-having networked?"

"I think so, yeah," Chris said.

"T-that just means then t-that we've g-got to introduce each other to o-other people without using n-names, right?"

"I think we're supposed to use our names," Chris said. "But we're supposed to talk about our good points."

That got a glance at him, then at the teacher. "I s-supose," she said, conceding to his opinion which was probably the right one anyway, "i-in the meantime h-how have you been?"

"Pretty good," Chris said. "We went out on Friday night to celebrate my birthday in Greece. How've you been?"

"A-and now we're someplace else," that was a smile, "g-good timing on the p-party. I've b-been good. Aly-san m-made me her TA for C-Courtly Dancing."

Liz wasn't sure how well this was going to go for her but she decided that it didn't hurt to try.

This seemed easy enough.

Mac looked around for someone she could introduce... or be introduced to. Whatever.

Andrew was ready to shake more hands and meet more people. And help people meet people.

Romeo went over to Andrew. "I think you're one of the few people in this class I've talked to before," he admitted.

"So that means we're networked, right?" Andrew grinned.

"I take it you noticed that we're back in France, right?" He didn't look too happy about that bit.

"I think it does!" Romeo told him with a smile. "And I did, though I've not yet been off the island to see how the country has changed." He paused, remembering Andrew hadn't seemed too happy to be in France last time, either. "At least this time we remained in our own era."

"True," he said. "Though I'm not exactly anxious to run out and wear my jaw out chewing on a baguette." He shrugged. "It could be interesting to see how it's changed," he agreed. "You planning on going anytime soon?"

"Perhaps this weekend," Romeo shrugged. "I just got back from a trip home, so some time to rest is appreciated. But I may have to take my girlfriend shopping."

"Oh, shopping!" Andrew hadn't really thought about modern day shopping in France. "And girlfriend? Is this a new development?"

Romeo had to think about that one for a moment "Middling so, I suppose?" he said. "Dojima and I started seeing each other in February, but we weren't official about it until after I returned from Paris." Which, he suddenly realized, meant he'd been dating the same girl for three months.

This was quite the record for him.

"I don't know that I've met her," he said. "You should network me sometime."

"I will," Romeo promised. "She's from another of the worlds with magic, so you would have that in common, at the least."

"Liir was by the store yesterday," he added.

"Oh." Andrew shuffled uncomfortably. "How did he seem?"

Shaking her head a little to get yesterday out of her head, Turtle quietly built up as quick and extensive of a list of eventual connection between everyone she could before someone partnered up with her.

Dick was trying to think of things he could use to connect people aside from cheese. He had no clue why he was thinking of cheese, but he was.
