Good evening from the Fandom High auditorium. I'm CJ Cregg and I'll be moderating the Student Council debates.

Our Format tonight will be as follows:
Students and teachers alike will ask questions of the candidates. [Please submit your questions to the moderator via the appropriate thread] Each candidate
will respond to the question in turn, and I will call on each for their response.

After each candidate has gone, any one may request a further rebuttal to address
a point made by an opponent, the granting of which is at my discretion. The press will have full access and are also encouraged to
contribute questions.

In the case of no opponent, the same format will
apply, although the rebuttals will be unnecessary for obvious reasons.

Vice President debate here

Baltar is here, looking a little uncomfortable.

Mr. Baltar, as a candidate for this position, how do you view the position of Vice President in our unique environment, what are your goals, and how do you plan to acheive those goals?

Well, if this is to be a debate, I require someone to debate with. As for the position of Vice President, well, we all know the office is largely for show, just someone waiting in the shadows for the president to be incapacitated. However, should I be elected, I would not sit still. I would be an approachable liaison between the students and the president. I would do everything in my power to keep the student body peaceful and happy by seeing that their needs and concerns are promptly addressed to the proper administrative officials and then dealt with to the satisfaction of all involved. I believe applying my intellect to the myriad problems that will surely arise in such a diverse population as we have here will result in a positive atmosphere for learning and growth.

Interesting, Mr. Baltar.

One of your opponents seems reluctant to join us up here. Until he does, please answer this question:

What level of responsibility and accountability do you feel your position will owe to both the student body and to the administration?

I of course would be completely accountable to the student body and the administration. Obviously, if I am elected it is because the students think I can best handle their interests, and I will not disappoint them. I would hope the administration would have the same faith in me as the students.

Errr...annoying, yes. I have been told I talk about my intelligence too much, so I suppose I would do nothing but want to discuss how brilliant I am.

How do you feel about Barry Manilow? Kenny G? That one annoying white-boy band who think's they're reggae and ruins perfectly good Cure songs?

Nobody said this was mandatory. I don't do debate.

Mr. Turner, if you do not wish to debate, no one will force you. However, that position makes it clear you do not want to be Vice President and you have wasted everyone's time.

Is that your wish?

Why would that make it clear that someone doesn't want to be elected if they don't want to waste their breath standing on stage looking pretty and spewing out carefully rehearsed words? It didn't say anywhere that participating in this was required and necessary to prove you wanted to be elected.

*grins*

You want me to really waste time? Ask your questions then.

*Her expression is hard* Mr. Turner, the rest of us are taking this seriously, even if you aren't. I'm not going to tolerate your attitude. I strongly encourage you to play the game or take your ball and leave. I don't have time for this.

[OOC: Thanks. :) I'm here going "AHHH don't make me debate myself!" ;) Don't ask me how two of me ended up running for the same office, I'm still not sure how that happened.]

I'll take this seriously when the write-in candidates are allowed to voice their opinions officially as well. Makes it more fair than me and Mr. Science over there going at it. So, tell ya what, I'm gonna take a stand for those you aren't letting talk and decline the invitation to debate.

Phoebe has seen this and stares after Belthazor in shocked admiration...especially since he knows why she allowed herself to be added to ticket in the first place.
