Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Oh look, there were tables and chairs over here too, away from all the informational stuff. Enjoy the food!

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here and there is more room for mingling here.]

"No, England. Although it's a little like space in that it gets very dark, very cold and it sucks sometimes. Where's Coeur d'Coeurs?"

"I've already met one person from space from the future or the past and I'm still a little boggled," Ned said. "Coeur d'Coeurs...it's in the United States. It doesn't look like space at all. It's bright, colorful."

"I'm from 2002, so make that another person from the past. Don't worry about time travel too much. If you're lucky, it will never exist in your universe and you won't have to think about it. This place is different. You can get to it from anywhere and anywhen if I understand it right. It's special. Different. Complicated."

"Everything is different," Ned said, looking sheepish. "I feel so out of place and so...overwhelmed."

"If it's any consolation, me too. All we can really do is go home, which doesn't really sound like much of a thing to do, or stick it out and see if we start to get used to the place. New guys have to stick together, right?" He was trying to sound supportive.

Ned thought about it for a minute. Going home meant going home to nothing but a dog and...nothing. He wasn't going back to that boarding school and this place, at least, had picnics.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Ned said. "I'm Ned. New guy. Very new. So new I probably have the just off the rack shine."

"I'm Friday. I'm new too. I think a lot of people are, so we're not alone there. It's not such a bad place to be new in if they throw picnics."

"Friday," Ned said, repeating the name in hopes of remembering it. "Yeah, this was a surprise to me too. Last picnic I went to, I got made fun of for chickening out before going down the slide and my...friend went and yelled at the teasers for me."

"That doesn't sound like much fun. Has anyone made fun of you here?"

"Not yet but I'm still new," he said, full of self confidence. "That is, no, everyone's been nice. What about you?"

"No, not yet. But I tell you what. I'm guessing your friend isn't here and my friends aren't here, and new guys have to look out for each other. If anyone makes fun of you, let me know. I won't go and yell at them, but we could probably make their room stink of rotten eggs for a few days as payback."

"Hey, deal," Ned said, happy to, at least, have one person that seemed to feel the same way as he did and wasn't a dog. "I'm...not the best at payback but if someone did that to you, I could find something. Get my dog wet and send him into their room and let him dry off on their bed!"

"Now you've got the right idea! I'm in room 402, I think, if anyone bothers you."

"Me and my dog are down in 213," Ned told him. "Two floors down. You probably knew that if you know simple math. Which you probably do."

"My sister's the math wiz in the family, so thanks for the tip. I'll see you around, yeah?"

"I guess so," Ned said, having decided escaping was just not going to happen. "See you around."
