Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

She still remembered Gaara at his worst. And then him again protecting them all. "Both."

"We have a similar situation, to be honest," Jamie admitted. "So what do you think of Fandom so far? Besides the shirtlessness."

"I think my roommate is made of stone," Temari said dryly. "Literally."

Jamie blinked.

"His name wouldn't be 'Ben' would it?"

"Gladys." A beat. "I think it's female."

"Gladys?" Jamie asked. "I think she used to work at the post office."

"She did mention that she'd been here before," Temari admitted.

"See?" Jamie said. "C'mon. A stone roommate. You can't get that anywhere else. Don't you love the wacky?"

Temari just eyed him for a moment, shaking her head.

"I assumed she was a puppet."

"You really think that a giant stone thing that walks around is a puppet?" Jamie asked. "Because honestly I think she has more in common with a cement mixer."

"Cement mixer?" There were many technological advances in her world, but that-- sadly for the people who built the hidden villages-- was not among them.

"Um. It's a thing that mixes gravel and stuff that when it dries turns into stone," Jamie tried to explain. "See? Something you didn't know about. And cement can be awesome!"

...

"Okay. Sorry. Cement really can't be awesome."

"Good try though." Temari gave him an amused look. "I know what cement is, we just mix it by hand back home."

Or use jutsus to just build things from sand and stone.

"Ah," Jamie said in understanding. "And is home this world? Or someplace completely different."

"Someplace else, I gather," Temari said with a sigh. "I've seen one person from my there, but she seems... much younger than I last saw."

"Yeah," Jamie said sympathetically. "You get that a lot here. A friend of mine who left last year just showed up like... ten or twelve years older. He's a teacher now."

This didn't make her feel better about it.

"The classes are mandatory?" Because, really, she didn't want to take anything her brothers picked out.

"Well... yeah. That's why this is a school," Jamie said. "But it doesn't mean you can't have fun here. You do know what fun is, right?"

Of course she did!

In a way.

Maybe.

Temari just made a face. "I didn't pick mine."

"Well which ones did you get?" Jamie asked. "Because most of the classes are pretty good."

"Something on fashion-" There was a sneer at that one. Kankurou's influence, no doubt. "-one about acclimating to this world and... one on being the best at what I do."

Which made no sense to her. How would they know what she did?
