Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

"Oh, I followed a fox spirit onto the causeway," Sokka replied, cheerfully. "Did you come in a spaceship?"

"No," Worf growled. "At the moment, I'm not exactly sure how I got here. But I assure you once I find out the person responsible will pay!"

Oops. Worf just crushed the cup of coffee he was just drinking. Reigning in his temper, Worf collected a napkin and cleaned off his hands.

"Sorry," he said but it was pretty clear he was not apologizing for anything.

Sokka stared at the cup. "Okay, yeah, we'll crush them like bugs! But for right now, chill out. This really isn't a bad place to be stuck."

"I am Klingon," Worf growled. "We do not chill."

Not that Worf was absolutely familiar with the phrase but he wasn't a big fan of being cold in general.

"Oh, yeah?" Sokka replied with a chuckle. "Let me introduce you to my sister."

A pause.

"...Okay, trust me, that joke's WAY funnier in context."

"Attempting to make me mate with your sister will not work," Worf growled. "Human women are too fragile for a Klingon."

Sokka stared. "...Okay, EW. No, I meant she could get you to 'chill' by covering you in ice. She does that kind of thing. ESPECIALLY if you try to 'mate' with her." He smirked. "No, go ahead, try it. This I gotta see."

"As I said, human women are too fragile," Worf said caustically. "Though I have not heard of one that can cover me in ice in the middle of spring."

"A-yup, she can do that," Sokka told him. "She's a bender like that. It's a thing."

"I am not familiar with a 'bender'. Explain!" Worf ordered.

Sokka raised an eyebrow and sighed. "Look, if you're going to be stuck here with us, you're going to need to work on that attitude problem of yours. ASK, don't demand. It's only common courtesy."

"Explain," Worf demanded.

He then paused and added, "Please."

Sokka grinned. "There you go! That wasn't that hard, was it? Okay. So. In my world, a 'bender' is someone who can control one of the four elements with their chi. Katara has mastery over water, so she's a 'waterbender'. What about you? Any cool powers?"

"No," Worf said. "I am a Klingon. We do not needs such things. Obviously your people have some genetic mutation that allows you to manipulate the environment. Fascinating."

By his tone it may not be clear if he actually finds that fascinating or not.

"Hey, watch who you're calling a mutant, Captain Forehead!"

"I'm a cadet," Worf said correcting the boy. "Not a captain. And my forehead is no business of yours."

"Are you SURE you're not related to Zuko?"

"I do not know of this Zuko that you speak of," Worf retorted. "I told you this once already. Are you accusing me of lying?"

Sokka facepalmed. "It's my very subtle way of asking you who stole your sense of humor."

"I have a sense of humor."

No. No he doesn't. Not at all.

"Really? Where do you keep it? You obviously haven't brought it with you."

Worf responded to Sokka's comment with a glare that indicated that he was testing what remained of Worf's humor.

And patience.
