Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Chris was hanging out, drinking a cup of coffee, and wondering if he'd have any more back-from-the-dead relatives showing up this time around.

Summer spotted Chris and ran over to him. "Hey. Break anyone's brain yet?"

"Not so far," Chris said. "I'm still waiting for my little to show up though. You?"

"I told my little from 1974 that's it's 2008," Summer replied. She was oddly proud of that.

Chris grinned. "Your little is from 1974? Oh, man. Poor kid."

"It could be worse," Summer said. "He could be, like, from the time of dinosaurs or something."

"True," Chris agreed. "How did he take it?"

"He said something about hanging out with Deadheads," Summer replied.

"Yeah, that sounds like he's from the 70s," Chris agreed. "In some ways, I think it's easier coming back than it would be to go forward. I just have to be careful not to talk about movies and bands and stuff that aren't around yet."

"I haven't had too much trouble adjusting," Summer said. "Of course, cellphones and the internet are at least around in 2005."

She gave him a small, hopeful smile. "Speaking of movies, we should go see one sometime."

"What, you mean I should take you on a date?" Chris teased. "I think I can do better than a movie when we're on the coast of Greece, don't you?"

Summer grinned. "Seriously, what better place to have a first official date than in Greece?"

Chris grinned back. "I'll have to do some research and make it really spectacular," he said.

"Awww," Summer said. "Doesn't have to be super fancy or anything. As long as I'm with you, it'll be awesome."

"I feel the same way," Chris said, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "But after everything, I think you deserve a great first official date."

He paused. "Wouldn't prom count as our first official date?"

"Hmmm, maybe," Summer said, after a moment of thought. "We did go together after all."

"Of course, we kind of got browbeat into that one," Chris mused. "So this would technically be our first voluntary date."

"Have I mentioned I'm glad we were browbeat into that?" Summer said.

"Yeah, same here," Chris agreed. "We should do something nice to thank Bridge, Wyatt and Savannah."

"I think that is a great idea," Summer added.

"Any idea what?" Chris asked. "I mean, a fruit basket seems kind of lame."

"A giant basket of chocolate?" That seemed kind of lame, too.

"Hmmm. I dunno," Chris said. "That doesn't seem like the right thing for what they did."

"I know," Summer said with a sigh. "I'm sure we'll think of something cool."

"Yeah, we'll just have to keep thinking about it," Chris said.
