Also consider what add-ons and scripts you have running in Firefox. I'd added Livejournal Add-ons last week and it killed me during the graduation post. Things were much better after I'd turned it off.

I've done the same today.

If you have the Greasemonkey script that tags newly added comments in a post, that slows things down a lot too.
