fandomhigh | Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2008, Saturday Afternoon (Part I)

The sun was shining over the front lawn of the school (except for the part of the bleachers covered by an awning, in case anyone with sun issues had shown up), and the temperature had thankfully turned out to be perfect for the occasion. There was a stage placed prominently on the lawn, set up with a podium and a number of heavy metal chairs for the administration and guests. In front of the stage were platforms with more of the metal chairs; they'd been painted blue and gold, and were sitting empty and waiting for the arrival of the class of 2008. There were bleachers on each side of the platforms, for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town who wanted to come and watch.

Alas, it was time for another class to graduate.

"Who would throw with hummus?" Parker wondered, leaning in to give him a quick half-hug. "And it's not like the kitten exploded. Except into your lives. At 3am."

Xander rolled his eye and hugged back. "She named it Payback."

Parker cracked up, looking delighted. "That was not the intended effect, but cool! I had to get her one, you guys wouldn't get her a little brother. What kind of aunt wouldn't get her a kitten under those circumstances?"

"Apparently jar-babies are expensive. Who knew?"

"Awww. And yeah, carpenters in the future and space cops can't be making a mint, I suppose." She grinned. "Bronwyn said I should ask you to do the Snoopy dance. Since it's a special occasion." Okay, she'd said it was for Christmas. So what, Parker got her a kitten, she can totally put words in her mouth.

Xander crossed his arms. "She did not."

...Yeah, she totally did. He was sure of it.

"She told me all about it." Well, sort of. "She said it was usually for Christmas, and that Daddy was so funny, and I didn't know what I was talking about when I said you weren't." She mock-glared at him. "Are you calling your kid a liar?"

"Did you tell my kid her dad is not funny?"

"Did you get your kid to call me at 3a.m. to try to convince me that I had a child with Bridge in some future alternate reality?" Parker countered, folding her arms.

"Did you laugh? Eventually?"

"Wellll..." Parker tried to smother a grin.

"See?" Xander shook his finger.

Parker stuck her tongue out at Xander. "I still say I should get to see the Snoopy Dance. Bridge is graduating! He survived three years here! Doesn't that deserve a dance of joy?"

"...Yes." Xander hated it when people he was pointlessly arguing with had a point. Oh! Oh wait! "But Bridge isn't here. He's all the way over there on the stage. He wouldn't see it."

"So you'll do it later?" Parker asked hopefully. "When Bridge can see it? Swear? Promise? He'll be sad if you don't?"

"Hmmmm." Parker wasn't about to give up on this, not when she'd just won half a point. "You could do it when they recess and come back? He'd know how proud you were!"

"But then it wouldn't be just for Bridge." Why he was arguing at this point, Xander had no idea, since in fact he was totally willing to do the Snoopy Dance a) in front of everyone when Bridge got his diploma ~~if it wouldn't joss him~~ or b) for Parker.

Parker wasn't giving up because Parker's don't do that, and besides, arguing with Xander was more entertaining than about 99% of the things she could be doing right now. Plus, the Snoopy Dance was now assuming epic proportions in her head, the Grand Canyon of silly dances. "We cooooould... hold up a robe, and you could do the dance for us behind the robes?" she tried, trying to think of another way to make this work.

"...Will you be putting dollar bills down my pants?"

Parker gave him a speculative look, eyes glinting wickedly. "If Bridge doesn't think it breaks the rules I am so there."

"I might have to convince him it's only worth bending the rules for fifties."

Parker chortled. "Okay, now I am *really* wondering what kind of Snoopy Dance you'd do for a hundred."

"You will never see it."
