The sun was shining over the front lawn of the school (except for the part of the bleachers covered by an awning, in case anyone with sun issues had shown up), and the temperature had thankfully turned out to be perfect for the occasion. There was a stage placed prominently on the lawn, set up with a podium and a number of heavy metal chairs for the administration and guests. In front of the stage were platforms with more of the metal chairs; they'd been painted blue and gold, and were sitting empty and waiting for the arrival of the class of 2008. There were bleachers on each side of the platforms, for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town who wanted to come and watch.

Alas, it was time for another class to graduate.

"She's the only one," Aly teased.

"Yes, it's a shame," he sighed and he glanced at the podium. Everything looked alright.

"You okay?" she murmured, taking another look at him.

He considered shrugging it off, but she'd find out sooner or later. "Edward left," he said quietly, glancing at Aly.

She tilted an eyebrow. "Went home?" Though if he had, there was no way he'd be looking like that.

"No," he glanced back at the stage. "We still haven't found a way to get him back to Amestris."

Aly leaned into him slightly. "So he's being an impatient idiot?"

Roy snorted. "He figures there's no answer here and he's wasting time... So yes."

"Want me to go drag him back?" she offered, only partially teasing.

He chuckled and shifted a little, leaning against her a bit more. "As amusing as it would be to watch, I don't think there'd be much point."

Aly pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. "Will you still be able to keep in touch?"

"He gave me an address," Roy replied, his hand brushing the side of her leg for a second.

"Good," she said softly, throwing him a glance for the touch. "Going to be okay?"

He nodded slowly. "He'll be alright."

"That wasn't what I asked," Aly remarked.

"I know," he said softly.

"You'll see him again," she said, unable not to think about their Ed and how he'd never known Fullmetal.

"Yeah," Roy agreed and he had wondered about that too. "I was right last time."

"Yeah, yeah, you'll never let that one go," she teased/

"I don't see why I should," he said haughtily.

Aly rolled her eyes and turned back to watching the graduation, trying to ignore the sudden wonder if he'd be called back to his world now that Edward was gone from the island.

Roy fell silent and after a moment he reached for Aly's hand, possibly just wanting the contact.

She squeezed his hand lightly, leaning back against him.
