fandomhigh | Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2008, Saturday Afternoon (Part I)

The sun was shining over the front lawn of the school (except for the part of the bleachers covered by an awning, in case anyone with sun issues had shown up), and the temperature had thankfully turned out to be perfect for the occasion. There was a stage placed prominently on the lawn, set up with a podium and a number of heavy metal chairs for the administration and guests. In front of the stage were platforms with more of the metal chairs; they'd been painted blue and gold, and were sitting empty and waiting for the arrival of the class of 2008. There were bleachers on each side of the platforms, for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town who wanted to come and watch.

Alas, it was time for another class to graduate.

Conner had only just barely gotten here on time, thanks to a massive portal mixup, so he was glad for his super speed. Really glad, actually, considering it was a red blur that dropped into the seat he was sitting in and then heaved a sigh of relief.

Yeah, like Tori hadn't seen that familiar red blur pass by. She chuckled to herself and waved ever so slightly, in Conner's direction.

Said red blur zipped back and stopped, resolving itself into a grinning, waving Conner. "Hey, Tori!"

"Hey Conner," Tori grinned. "Is it bad that now that I'm here, I don't want to leave?"

"Nah," Conner said. "This was good times, huh?"

"Yeah, it really was," Tori nodded. She missed it. "Good to be back."

"No kidding." Conner cast a wistful glance around. "I guess we've missed some craziness lately, huh? With the kids reappearing, and Gwynn said something about bears a few weeks ago . . ."

"Apparently," Tori admitted, nodding. She was a tiny bit sad about that part. "Bears, huh? Did she tell you about the giant bear?"

Conner choked. "Giant what?"

"Giant bear." Yeah, that had caught her off guard, too.

"Now, when you say giant," Conner said weakly, "you mean like . . . not quite Megazord sized, right?"

Tori shook her head. "No," she answered somewhat quietly. "Pieces of furniture assembling together." Yeah, try wrapping your head around that.

"Aw, man!" Conner smacked his forehead with the heel of his hand. "I knew I was missing out on the fun!"

Summer spotted Conner and waved.

"Summer! Hi!" Conner headed over to where she was sitting. "Stab anyone with a fork lately?"

You'd think he'd be over that obsession by now, but nooooooo . . .

"Not lately, no," Summer said, clearly amused. "How've you been? It's been, like, forever."

"I know, right?" Conner heaved a melodramatic sigh. "Time moves so slowly when you move as fast as I do."

Summer snickered. "I'm sure it does. So do I get a hug?"

"Well, yeah." Conner was happy enough to give her a hug that was more of a glomp. "Good to see you again, Summer."

Summer smiled. "Good to see you, too."

"You should come visit sometime this summer," Conner said. "I know, I know, us northern Californians are all inferior or something -- whatever -- but c'mon!"

"I'd like that," Summer said. "I can totally get Chris to orb me."

"Awesome," Conner said. "I've got the house pretty much to myself all summer, except when Gwynn comes to visit."

"Oh hey, maybe we can do a double date type thing," Summer said.

"Me and Gwynn and you and -- ?" Conner was still slow sometimes.
