The sun was shining over the front lawn of the school (except for the part of the bleachers covered by an awning, in case anyone with sun issues had shown up), and the temperature had thankfully turned out to be perfect for the occasion. There was a stage placed prominently on the lawn, set up with a podium and a number of heavy metal chairs for the administration and guests. In front of the stage were platforms with more of the metal chairs; they'd been painted blue and gold, and were sitting empty and waiting for the arrival of the class of 2008. There were bleachers on each side of the platforms, for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town who wanted to come and watch.

Alas, it was time for another class to graduate.

"I'm an irresistible kinda guy," Dean said, even though he knew the reasons Meg hadn't gone home had more to do with her family than him.

Lizzie chuckled. "I've known you for about five minutes and already I like you better than Meg's last boyfriend."

"From what I've heard, being better than him wouldn't be too hard," Dean said with a wry smirk.

"You'd be surprised. Meg didn't realize that cardboard was more exciting than him until he screwed her over," Lizzie said. She tilted her head at him. "I don't have to give you the "You hurt her and I'll kill you" speech do I?"

"Nah," Dean said. "But hey, it's what we do for our siblings, right?"

"I guess. To tell the truth I'm not Meg's biggest fan," Lizzie said. She had no problem admitting it. "But I figure I should get to be the only person to annoy her. It's my right as a little sister."

Dean raised an eyebrow. "Funny," he observed. "I'd have said my little brother was one of my biggest fans. Though yeah, we do annoy each other some."

"Well your brother probably isn't regarded as the most perfect human being in existence," Lizzie said a little bitterly. She loved Meg but she sure as hell didn't like her. "It's kinda hard to live with."

Although things had been a little bit better since Meg had gotten on her parent's bad side with the whole Stanford thing.

Dean really had a hard time imagining anyone thinking Meg would be hard to live with. "What, did your parents compare you a lot or something?"

"Oh only about every second of the day since I could remember," she said. "It’s all: "Meg got a scholarship, Meg keeps her room spotless, Meg never got kicked out of summer camp for waking up in the swim coach’s cabin." Drives me crazy."

"The swim coach's cabin? Seriously?"

"I needed help on my breaststroke," she said, smiling sweetly.

"I just bet you did, sweetheart," Dean said with a smirking leer.

Lizzie grinned again. "Well, that's a better reaction than what my parents had when I said the breaststroke thing."

"I can imagine. From what Meg's said they're not the type to appreciate a well placed innuendo."

"That's an understatement. I go to Catholic school now. It's about as much fun as you think it would be," Lizzie said dryly. "And the outfits suck."

"You mean all I hear about Catholic schoolgirl uniforms is wrong?" Dean shook his head. "Next you'll be telling me there's no such thing as the Easter Bunny."

"Hey, I was shocked too when I first saw them. And you can't even make any adjustments," she said. "Those nuns are mean."

"Well maybe you can use reverse psychology on your parents," Dean suggested. "Tell them how much you don't want them to send you to school here and..."

"No way. At least when I get out of class I can still hang out in Neptune," Lizzie said. "From what I've seen so far, this place is kind of boring."

Dean cracked up. "Sweetheart, the last thing Fandom is, is boring."

"Yeah, I'll believe that when I see it."

"Those there?" Dean said, still snickering. "Those are what known as famous last words."
