The sun was shining over the front lawn of the school (except for the part of the bleachers covered by an awning, in case anyone with sun issues had shown up), and the temperature had thankfully turned out to be perfect for the occasion. There was a stage placed prominently on the lawn, set up with a podium and a number of heavy metal chairs for the administration and guests. In front of the stage were platforms with more of the metal chairs; they'd been painted blue and gold, and were sitting empty and waiting for the arrival of the class of 2008. There were bleachers on each side of the platforms, for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town who wanted to come and watch.

Alas, it was time for another class to graduate.

Angela was tired for several reasons, but she managed a slight smile as she took her seat.

"Feeling all right?" Marty asked giving Angela the once-over. "Too much partying last night?"

"We were the most sober bachelorette party ever," Angela said, rolling her eyes. "Rory was gonna call this friend of hers who could get dirty cakes, but I had to go to bed before anything happened."

"See I wasn't expecting the dirty cakes part," Marty joked. "But I figured that any bachelorette party involving a Gilmore would involve lots of caffeinated beverages."

Angela gave him A Look. "Certain people keep pouring anything I buy with caffeine in it down the drain!" she protested. "Besides,we were at a bar."

She leaned her head into his shoulder. "I had crannnnnnberry juice."

"Cranberry juice is good," Marty said slipping his arm around her shoulder. "Caffeine? Bad. But I'm proud to see how well you are coping without it. I promise I won't drink any more coffee in front of you, will that make it better?"

"I'm not that mean," Angela protested. "You can have coffee, sweetie, seriously."

She didn't want to see Marty without the stuff.

"You're like the best lifemate ever," Marty teased as he lean over to kiss her head. "What else could a guy ask for?"

"Mmmm, lifemate. I like that," Angela said, almost purring in contentment."Oh, hey, wanna hear about something weird?"

"If it involves erotic cakes, I'm taking a pass on it," Marty warned.

"Ew. No." Angela said. "Remember that weekend when I thought I was that girl who was married and she was, like, 12?"

"Oh yeah," Marty said. "I turned into a guy named Lloyd something. What about it?"

"Her husband is, like, a student here," Angela said, sounding morbidly amused by this fact. "I ran into him in Jeff's. The way he looked at me ..."

Marty raised an eyebrow at that. "So the guy got married and came to Fandom? Doesn't it usually work th other way around? And what way was he looking at you?"

"Like he was seeing a ghost," Angela said softly, scanning the stands for him. "There - the blond guy up in the last bleacher, smoking."

She frowned. "I don't know. It wasn't exactly the kind of conversation where you wanted to ask a lot of questions."

"Huh," Marty said surveying the guy. "So I'm guessing your first experience of having a double wasn't as good as me and Rob Gordon."

Angela shook her head. "Nah. I think I liked being the only me."

"Good news," Marty said poking her in the side. "There's only one you. And I'm glad I know her."
