The sun was shining over the front lawn of the school (except for the part of the bleachers covered by an awning, in case anyone with sun issues had shown up), and the temperature had thankfully turned out to be perfect for the occasion. There was a stage placed prominently on the lawn, set up with a podium and a number of heavy metal chairs for the administration and guests. In front of the stage were platforms with more of the metal chairs; they'd been painted blue and gold, and were sitting empty and waiting for the arrival of the class of 2008. There were bleachers on each side of the platforms, for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town who wanted to come and watch.

Alas, it was time for another class to graduate.

Naomi came in and found a seat.

Billy's mother spotted Naomi and made her way over to her, making Storm Shadow save her seat. "Excuse me are you, Naomi, Wildman?"

Naomi nodded, "I'm Naomi," she confirmed.

"I'm Mary Croix, Billy Kessler's mother." she introduced herself. "I just wanted to ~~see if you really were an alien~~ say hello."

"It's nice to meet you Ms. Croix," Naomi smiled.

"I'm just so glad that Billy's made friends his own age. He was so isolated growing up."

"I'm glad that I met Billy," Naomi said, "he's a good friend,"

Mary beamed with the praise to her son. "Well I'm very pleased to meet you. Are you a junior this year?"

Naomi nodded, "I'll be a junior this year,"

"What are your plans for after High School?" she asked. She wondered what someone from the future might do for higher education.

"I'm hoping to get accepted into Starfleet Academy," Naomi replied, "I'd like to be able to become a Science Officer and serve on a Starship,"

Mary was somewhat secretly a science fiction fan. "Really? That's incredible. Billy told me he'd gone into space here, I wasn't sure if he was exaggerating."

"We've had a couple of opportunities to go into space here at Fandom," Naomi said, "it's pretty amazing,"

"Is space travel common in your time?"

Naomi nodded, "it's fairly common," she said, "I spent most of my childhood growing up on a starship,"

"Was it strange when you set foot on a planet? Did you get, landsick?"

"It wasn't really strange for me to set foot on a planet," Naomi said, "I didn't get landsick when I had the opportunity to go down,"
