Somewhere between her room and the library, Mac seemed to have misplaced one child already. He seemed like the sort to be able to look after himself, though... Well, she really hoped he was, anyway.

In contrast, Amy had clamped onto her leg, and showed no sign of letting go.

Having been at this school for two and a half years, Mac knew the hallmarks of an island-wide epidemic. The tables were stocked up with lots of paper and pens, crayons, glue sticks, child scissors, sequins and glitter. Lots of glitter.

Mac is definitely not doing anything work-like today. She's more interested in encouraging her newfound daughter to talk, or draw, or... anything, really.
