Applied Inventiontronics, Period 4 - Final

The desks were arranged in a sort of misshapen U around the middle of the room and the chairs were lining the walls. Glitch wasn't at his usual spot behind his desk and was, instead, sitting in a chair off to the side.

On the board, however, were instructions.

Final Exam Instructions!

  1. Pick a desk and set up your invention.
  2. Take turns demonstrating each invention for your classmates.
  3. Ask each other questions about your inventions.
  4. Try to not let any malfunctions get too out of hand.

Glitch smiled at them from where he was sitting and took out a small notepad. Forget the naming part, this was going to be his new favorite part of inventiontronics.

[ooc: The OCD is up and waiting for everyone's neat inventions!]

Willow had a teapot that was like unto an electric teapot, only it wasn't electric and it could be operated by beavers.

Liir had a device which could take in memories either from someone voluntarily putting them there or by remembering them along with someone. He also had the reader for it, which was specific to the memory holder (security feature!).

It worked, but could only record about a week at a time.

Sokka wheeled in a small cart that was about half gas-fired grill and half metal monstrosity. There was a hopper on the back with a few unwrapped loaves of Wonder Bread stacked in it, and an open tub of Land O' Lakes sitting in a bucket of ice in the middle. The rest was a complicated mass of gears, levers, pistons, tubes, and other bits.

A big sign on the side identified it as the "TOASTENATOR 9000"

He beamed at the class proudly.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Sokka announced. "I present to you... The TOASTENATOR 9000!!!"

He flipped a switch and his machine started rumbling, the smell of burning propane filled the air, and pretty soon perfectly browned slices of toast with butter, cinnamon, and sugar on both sides were being fired with astonishingly bad accuracy at the class's desks.

"Ta-da!" Sokka took a bow, and pressed a hidden button.

The contraption shuddered, a few sparks flew out -- that was a nice touch -- and bits of it started moving around and folding in on themselves.

"Oh, no!" Sokka ad-libbed, pretending to be shocked. "That's not supposed to happen! Something's going horribly wrong! It's broken!!!"

When it was done, the machine was sleeker and somewhat wicked-looking, with a long protruding barrel. Under the guise of touching it to try to figure out what was wrong, Sokka aimed and pulled the trigger, which caused a long, thin jet of flame to shoot out and singe the wall. "Oh, my! It's not supposed to do THAT!"

[OOC: Yes, he did this on purpose. Feel absolutely free to fail Sokka, give him detention, etc.]

A.J. stood proudly behind his invention: looking a bit like a super complex music stand (with a light on top), he had set the hands-free page-turning device to a steady pace to show how it slowly moved from page to page. Hands-free!

Anathema stood next to her automated book scanner and searcher. It basically looked like a torn apart scanner with extra parts attached to it - which is what it was. For some reason, the sign next to said S.I.N - Scan it In! Better than Flashcards!

Andrew stood next to his invention. The flight suit was pretty impressive looking -- a mass of silver pipes and wires surrounding two compressed air tanks, two giant retractable wings that Andrew currently had in the "sprung" positions, and a crude but sturdy harness sewn out of black and red pleather.

"In, um, theory, it works great," he said. Liir had been a kitten, so he hadn't gotten an opportunity to test it.

A strange glow emanated from the soles of Doom's boots as he hovered a foot above the ground. The new fuel source he developed for his boot thrusters meant that he could maintain this easily for the length of class.

Rikku had a patrol mech droid that she'd modified with a GPS system and that she'd removed the weapons systems from. It pinged back to base continually and updated its position. If it got destroyed, then that location was dangerous for some reason - monsters or a sandstorm or whatever else might happen in a desert.

Its name was "patrol mech droid with GPS system." She sucked at names.

Bridge has a pair of sunglasses (http://pics.livejournal.com/needsaparrot/pic/001brpst) resting on his desk. They're not just ordinary glasses, though. When switched on, they pick up the energy of people's auras and render them as coloured light within the visible spectrum.

Also? It dispenses gummi bears.
