Detention [5.04.08] - Saturday 800 to 1300 (the Danger Shop)

Harriet was looking suspiciously bright-eyed this morning as the detention-goers arrived. "Good morning. Today you're going to experience a little taste of Britain's ancient past. Possibly her imaginary past, but never mind. Today, each one of you is going to be Arthur, King of the Britons, and venture forth on a sacred quest for the Holy Grail."

She smiled at each of them in turn, looking far too amused. "It might not go quite as you expect it to," she added, then shooed them off. "Just go through that door to change into appropriate costume. Oh, and those of you with powers of any kind are not to use them. You are to approach this exercise as if you were an ordinary, non-magical, non-mutant, non-gifted human being. Arthur began his quest with only the blessing of God and strength of arms. You are to do the same."

"Of course not," Ronan said. He stepped aside and brought up his sword up one-handed to parry the blow.

The Black Knight moved into his sword while trying to parry and managed to cut his arm off on it. Incredibly fake looking blood gushed out, but the knight didn't react other than to glance down at his arm on the ground. "Tis but a scratch."

Ronan rolled his eyes. "Clearly," he said, annoyed at the ridiculous attitude. "A scratch that involves your entire arm being lopped off. Shall I take off the other?"

The Black Knight made a sound like Pfft! "I've had worse," he proclaimed, and leapt at Ronan, sword swinging again.

Ronan ducked below the swing and lanced out his sword in a slice at the knight's legs.

The Black Knight was proving to be not very good at parrying. He managed to cut himself on Ronan's sword and his other arm was off, along with his sword. Same gush of fake blood, same lack of reaction.

"Come on, then." He tried to kick Ronan. "Have at you!"

Ronan couldn't help but laugh as he danced back a few steps. "... You have got to be kidding me," he said, barely managing to get ahold of his chuckles. "You're missing both arms. Shall I take off the legs, too?"

"Have at you!" he yelled again, and tried for the headbutt. "I've had worse than this!"

Ronan was laughing almost too hard to focus on swinging his sword, but he still managed a passable swipe at the armless -- and apparently completely gormless -- black knight. "I find that rather hard to believe."

Off went his leg, and he was hopping. "Right. I'll do you for that! Come here. I'm invincible!" He tried to headbutt him again. "The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on, then."

Ronan just swung his sword lazily, trusting the black knight to do the work for him.

He thumped down onto the ground as his other leg came off. "Oh? All right, we'll call it a draw," he suggested, unable to move.
