Detention [5.04.08] - Saturday 800 to 1300 (the Danger Shop)

Harriet was looking suspiciously bright-eyed this morning as the detention-goers arrived. "Good morning. Today you're going to experience a little taste of Britain's ancient past. Possibly her imaginary past, but never mind. Today, each one of you is going to be Arthur, King of the Britons, and venture forth on a sacred quest for the Holy Grail."

She smiled at each of them in turn, looking far too amused. "It might not go quite as you expect it to," she added, then shooed them off. "Just go through that door to change into appropriate costume. Oh, and those of you with powers of any kind are not to use them. You are to approach this exercise as if you were an ordinary, non-magical, non-mutant, non-gifted human being. Arthur began his quest with only the blessing of God and strength of arms. You are to do the same."

The Black Knight moved in front of him, sword swinging in an underhand slice at Sokka's feet. "NONE shall pass."

Sokka jumped back from the attack and swung his own sword down at the knight's arm.

"I wasn't!!! I was going around so I wouldn't bother you! Look, why do you even CARE??!?!?! There's nothing HERE to GUARD."

Logic didn't make much of an impression on the Black Knight. Sokka's sword, however, did. It cut his arm off. Incredibly fake looking blood gushed out, but the knight didn't react other than to glance down at his arm on the ground. "Tis but a scratch."

Sokka jumped back, staring in horror. "Just a scratch?!?!? I cut your ARM OFF!!! Shouldn't you... I don't know... be in more pain??!?"

"I've had worse," he proclaimed with a dismissive pfft, and swung at Sokka again.

"Your ARM's just come off!!!" Sokka exclaimed, as he blocked the knight's attack and got in a swing of his own. "You CAN'T'VE had worse! Not unless you can regrow limbs!!"

"Tis but a scratch!" the Black Knight insisted, and then his other arm was off, along with his sword. Same gush of fake blood, same lack of reaction. "Come on, then." He tried to kick Sokka. "Have at you!"

Sokka backed away, staring. "You've got no ARMS left! What are you going to do, BLEED on me??? Or are they SUPPOSED to be detachable?"

The Black Knight followed, kicking madly, surprising limber for a man with no upper limbs. "A coward, eh? Running away, eh? Have at you!"

Sokka sighed and swung his sword again. He was trying to trip up the knight with the flat of his blade, but somehow he had a feeling that's not what was going to end up happening.

Off went his leg, and he was hopping. "Right. I'll do you for that! Come here. I'm invincible!" He tried to headbutt again. "The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on, then."

"You're completely INSANE, you know that, right?"

With a sigh, and a certain respect for narrative convention, Sokka swung his sword at the other leg.

He thumped down onto the ground as his other leg came off. "Oh? All right, we'll call it a draw," he suggested, unable to move.

"A DRAW???" Sokka asked, incredulously. He held his sword with the point just in front of the knight's eyes. "Are you SERIOUS???"
