Detention [5.04.08] - Saturday 800 to 1300 (the Danger Shop)

Harriet was looking suspiciously bright-eyed this morning as the detention-goers arrived. "Good morning. Today you're going to experience a little taste of Britain's ancient past. Possibly her imaginary past, but never mind. Today, each one of you is going to be Arthur, King of the Britons, and venture forth on a sacred quest for the Holy Grail."

She smiled at each of them in turn, looking far too amused. "It might not go quite as you expect it to," she added, then shooed them off. "Just go through that door to change into appropriate costume. Oh, and those of you with powers of any kind are not to use them. You are to approach this exercise as if you were an ordinary, non-magical, non-mutant, non-gifted human being. Arthur began his quest with only the blessing of God and strength of arms. You are to do the same."

The Black Knight ignored him, staring stolidly into the distance. Well, his eyes couldn't be seen, but his helmet was pointing forward, so it was a good bet that's where he was looking.

"Yah, okay then," Amber pursed her lips into a semi-forced smile and tried to ease past him.

The Knight moved to block her, sword raised. "None shall pass."

Amber unsheathed her sword. "I'm a king on a quest! You shall let me pass!"

This was fun!

"NONE shall pass." The Black Knight swung his sword overhand at her.

"Oh my god!" Amber was not expecting that. This was just pretend, right?

She stepped back and brought her sword up to protect herself.

The Black Knight moved into her sword and somehow managed to cut his arm off on it. Incredibly fake looking blood gushed out, but the knight didn't react other than to glance down at his arm on the ground. "Tis but a scratch."

Amber gasped. Fake or not it was just gross. "I didn't mean... I mean I wasn't aware... I... I gotta go!"

She then tried to quickly run past him.

The Black Knight made a sound like Pfft! "I've had worse," he proclaimed, and leapt in front of her, sword swinging again.

She dug her heels in. "Listen, I don't want you to loose another limb, but, uh, I am a king you know and am, er, a master swordsman! Stand aside you one-armed knight!" She raised her sword to block his attack.

"Tis but a scratch!" Somehow, the Black Knight managed to cut himself on her sword again, and his other arm was off, along with his sword. Same gush of fake blood, same lack of reaction.

"Okay, that is just seriously gross," she said and side-stepped him. "I hope you don't have to go to the bathroom anytime soon." Amber then tried to hurry past him.

"Come on, then." He ran in front of her and tried to kick her. "Have at you!"

"Ow! You tenacious, pesky, little body of a man!" Amber swung her sword low after he kicked her, aiming for his leg.

Off went his leg, and he was hopping. "Right. I'll do you for that! Come here. I'm invincible!" He tried to headbutt her again. "The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on, then."

"Unbelievable!" She backed up, shook her head, and stared incredulously. Then there was that headbutt and she blinked, regained her footing and shouted, "Not today you... torso sprout!" She swung her sword again, going for the other leg.

He thumped down onto the ground as his other leg came off. "Oh? All right, we'll call it a draw," he suggested, unable to move.

She couldn't make herself feel bad. She had given him fair warning. Kind of. And she had tried to run past so it wasn't her fault he was now limbless.

"I win! Have a good day, sir!" Then she ran.
