Detention [5.04.08] - Saturday 800 to 1300 (the Danger Shop)

Harriet was looking suspiciously bright-eyed this morning as the detention-goers arrived. "Good morning. Today you're going to experience a little taste of Britain's ancient past. Possibly her imaginary past, but never mind. Today, each one of you is going to be Arthur, King of the Britons, and venture forth on a sacred quest for the Holy Grail."

She smiled at each of them in turn, looking far too amused. "It might not go quite as you expect it to," she added, then shooed them off. "Just go through that door to change into appropriate costume. Oh, and those of you with powers of any kind are not to use them. You are to approach this exercise as if you were an ordinary, non-magical, non-mutant, non-gifted human being. Arthur began his quest with only the blessing of God and strength of arms. You are to do the same."

Jaina's immediate reaction was to go to the green knight, but her brain caught up with her to remind her that this was a simulation, and she could probably take the black knight. "Excuse me," she told him, hoping he'd just let her pass.

The Black Knight ignored him, staring stolidly into the distance. Well, his eyes couldn't be seen, but his helmet was pointing forward, so it was a good bet that's where he was looking.

"Excuse me," she said again, a little louder in case the helmet obstructed his hearing. "I'd like to get through... please."

His hearing was fine; his thinking might be questionable. "None shall pass."

Yeah, she was going to have to do the sword thing, wasn't she? "You sure about that?" she asked.

He raised his sword, flashing it in the air between them. "NONE shall pass."

Jaina sighed. "Okay, fine, we're going to do it this way, huh?" she said, pulling her sword free and stepping closer.

"None shall pass," he said, again, and swung his sword at her legs.

That was one of Anakin's favorite tricks. She hopped easily, and when she came back down she swung at one of his arms. Disable, don't kill unless you have to, and all that.

Oops, there went his arm! Incredibly fake looking blood gushed out, but the knight didn't react other than to glance down at his arm on the ground. "Tis but a scratch."

Jaina frowned at him. "Um, you're kind of bleeding over there."

"Pfft! Tis but a scratch," he proclaimed, swinging at her again.

Jaina wondered if this was a glitch in the program, or if this guy was just like that. Either way, she caught his blade with hers, and with a circular motion, aimed for his other arm.

And there went his other arm. And his sword. Same gush of fake blood, same lack of reaction. "Have at you!" he cried, and tried to kick her.

She probably should have expected that, but since she didn't, she yelled "Ow! Well, fine, I win, and you should get yourself looked at."

"Oh, had enough, eh?" He tried to kick her again, leaping forward and back. "Come on, have at you!"

"Yes, I have," she said, stepped forward in order to forcibly push him over.

"Ha! A coward! Running away, eh? Come on," he dodged back then kicked at her, annoyingly still blocking her path. "Have at you!"

"Okay, you have no idea how bizarre it's going to be for me if I have to cut off your legs, so how about we save me the trauma." She knew it wouldn't work.

"Have at you!" he said again, aiming a kick at her knees.

She couldn't say she didn't warn him. She stepped back, swinging her sword towards his leg.

Off went his leg, and he was hopping. "Right. I'll do you for that! Come here. I'm invincible!" He tried to headbutt her. "The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on, then."

"Oh, seriously," Jaina said, and had no problem going for the other leg this time. If he tried to crawl after her somehow, at least it would take him a while to catch up to her to annoy her some more.

He thumped down onto the ground as his other leg came off. "Oh? All right, we'll call it a draw," he suggested, unable to move.

"I'll take it," Jaina said, sheathing her sword and shaking her head as she continued on.
