Applied Inventiontronics, Period 4 - Week 12

This week, the classroom looked pretty much just as it had last week. The three strange inventions were setting at the front, but this time there were notes underneath them to clarify what the did.

Apparently, it wasn't obvious.

"Last week, I had you all name these inventions," Glitch said from his spot behind his desk. "This week, you'll be naming them again, only you'll be using acronyms. There's a minimum of three words."

He thought about that for a second.

"No, make that five. Extra credit if you can make the initials spell an actual word."

Liir approached the desk, a little sheepishly.

"How are you today, Professor?"

"I'm good," he said. "You're not, uhm," Glitch held his hand parallel to the floor at about the height Liir had been over the weekend, "anymore."

He shook his head, his cheeks darkening.

"I hope you didn't mind," he said quietly.

"I didn't mind. Probably better than turning into someone else completely."

He wouldn't say at least it wasn't singing out loud, but it was probably implied.

He looked down at his hands, as if he might still be holding something.

"Thank you for the horse. The toy."

He let that sit for a moment, the awkwardness straining.

"I wasn't kidding. I will treasure it. Even as I am now."

"You're welcome."

Another pause, but a short one.

"I didn't think you were kidding. Did you bring it with you?"

Glitch looked at Liir's hands then to see if had.

He shook his head.

"It's in Andrew's room. I've been staying there for the last couple of weeks. I didn't want to chance breaking it in my bag."

He won't break it for anything.

"I don't think it would break in your bag," he said. "The joints might get a little loose over time, but I don't think just carrying it with you will do any harm."

Glitch might have still been thinking in terms of a small child actively playing with the toy, but that was beside the point.
