Lawyering Up: Class 10, Wed, Period 2

"Nice to see you all back," Nathan said as he handed out the usual packets. "Today we're talking about Internet Law, or cyber law, as some people call it. We've already covered the practical problem of how internet technology moves too fast for precedent to keep up. Now let's talk about another problem with that technology: far too many lawmakers do not understand what the internet is. I can assure you that more than one member of Congress still thinks it's a series of tubes.

"So today I want you to pretend that you're trying to advocate for a law related to the internet where you have to find a way to explain what the internet is. Metaphors, diagrams, whatever it takes. Pair up and take turns being the politician who doesn't get it. Extra credit to anybody who figures out an actual law to argue for."

No, no injuries or anything. I'm fine. It...has been two years though so I'm having a bit of difficulty sort of... fitting back in, you know? But I'll be fine.

She certainly wasn't going to tell him about Joe, right now. For him they'd barely been broken up a week, he really didn't need to hear about how she nearly hadn't come back because of this guy she'd been crazy in love with. Summer would probably tell him and that was fine, but here in class? No.

She tossed him the note and smiled at him reassuringly.

Thanks. Mostly, I just need to adjust to being back here and how different everything is. And catch up on the classes I haven't been to in two years. I'm so worried I won't be able to keep up.

We broke up the day before the angels got me. So for me it's been two years, but for him it's been just a week. God, this is hard. I think I need a drink!
