Anemone and Gulliver are spot-checking some of the more popular sections from last week, looking for out-of-place books.

Computer time! Anemone's staring at her email, trying to figure how to tell John about last week without him having a heart attack.

The crayons are out, and Anemone's drawing a picture of her ~~handwaved~~ sleepover with A.J. and Annette.

The library is closed, unless you're Mr. Bob or another library aide.

Anemone's got blueprints spread across the desk, again. This time, however, it's not just the specs for a basic KLF.

She has the dossier and design plans for TheEND.

A.J. was realizing that he'd probably spent more time in a library these last few weeks that he had in his entire life combined, but, that afternoon, being exceptionally ahead of himself with his project and about two other projects, and with more time than he really knew what to do with, he was feeling bored. Granted, he'd much rather be bored than have things going on if things going on meant things like last week, but he thought of what he could do, and visiting Anemone propped up in his head, to see how she might be doing now that everything had thankfully blown over.

"Hey," he said, approaching the desk and shoving his hands into his pockets, with a not-as-casual-as-he-thought glance toward what she'd spread over the desk. "What's up?"

"There's no more icky monsters, that's up," she replied, looking up from the dossier. "Hey A.J.! You aren't sick of the library yet?"

"Well," A.J. said with a slight grin, perhaps a little shyly, "it's not the library that gets me so much as it is the books, and I'm not really here for books this time."

"Ah, then you must have discovered our deepest, darkest secret," Anemone intoned. "You found where Mr. Bob stashes the DVD collection. No one ever realizes that we've actually got a pretty good selection of classic movies. We just use the books as a cover, so that we can keep them to ourselves."

A.J. blinked a few times in surprise. "Really?" he asked. "Are they all DVDs?"

So he still wasn't comfortable with DVDs and preferred good old classic VHS sometimes. It was a thing; he had to stick true to his roots here.

"There's some tape-y things?" she said, trying to sketch the outline with her hands. "Vee-somethings? I can't figure out how to make them go in the television, so I don't know if they work."

"VHS," A.J. said, smile renewed, with a nod of his head and some faith restored in the system. It freaked him out sometimes how much technological change had happened in twelve odd years from his normal time to this one. "They work, it's just you've got to have a VCR to go with it, but they're actually hard to track down these days. I found an old one in the junkyard in one of my scavenger hunts, and I've almost got it workable again. Almost. The tapes sometimes have a habit of getting caught."

"I have a hard enough time with the DVD thing, I keep putting the disk in upside-down." Anemone grinned and shrugged. "I'd probably manage to wreck your tapes by putting them in backwards. It's people like me who kill your, ah, VRC? VCT? That thing. Boom."

"Oh, come on," A.J. said with a skeptical snort and a roll of his eyes. "You'd have to be a complete idiot to put in a VHS incorrectly. It's got all sort of markers in how its built that you can tell by looking at it which way it goes in."

"Now how would I know that?" she asked. "I've never actually, you know, had a Vee-Cee to put them in! Or if I did, I didn't know what it was."

"But if you're not here for the movies, or the books, it must be the company, because there's no pie in the library for me to feed you with," Anemone teased. "Pull up a chair. I get lonely talking to myself and Gulliver."

"VCR," A.J. corrected, "and you'd know because I'd teach you, that's how. And there's no pie in the library? Really? Then I guess my trip here was wasted."

"No pie in the library, greedy-guts, 'cause I ate it with my lunch! You're too late!" Anemone pretended to wipe away a tear. "I knew it, you're just after my baking, not me! Woe!"

"Well, come on, Anemone," A.J. grinned lightly. "It's pie. Can you blame me? And, be honest, would you have really have shared it with me anyway if I had shown up earlier?"

She actually thought about it for a moment. One the one had, it was A.J., on the other, pie. "Dunno, maybe. How do you feel about dirty pie?"

There was a pause. And a pretty noticeable spreading of a blush.

"I think that really depends on what you mean by 'dirty pie.'"

Yes, that was a rather noticeable blush, and Anemone burst out laughing. "A.J.! I didn't mean it like that! It's a type of pie, silly! It's a chocolate creme, with oreo crust, and oreos, and whipped creme. Now I'm curious, what did you think I was talking about about?"

"What do you think I thought?" A.J., blush worsening, gawked at Anemone with a mostly playful incredulousness. "What do you think comes to a guy's mind when you put dirty and pie together in the same breath, huh? Don't play all innocent. I know too many of you girls by now. You're all just as bad as us guys when it comes to stuff like that, you're just better at hiding it."

"I'm scandalized that you think I'd abuse pie in such a manner! I take my pie very seriously, thank you!" she teased, sticking out her tongue. "I don't know what you thought, but it had to be good, that's why I asked. Most current innuendo tends to go over my head, since I don't get all the cultural references, so I need to figure out what's 'dirty' and 'not-dirty'. Sometimes I say things that are obviously wrong, but I have no idea why people are laughing."

"Let's just leave it at me being a typical, dirty-minded male, yeah?" A.J. offered, hopefully, although doubting that Anemone would let him off that easily.

"A.J., I don't know many guys. The guys from home don't count, they just ruffle my hair and tell me I'm 'cute for such a complete sociopath.' How am I supposed to figure out how to make dirty jokes if no one's going to tell me why they're dirty?"

"But you are cute," A.J. said, and, really, he had to reach over and ruffle Anemone's hair after a comment like that. "Cute, but evil, if you're really going to make me have to explain it. That's mean. I'm shy and dorky and don't talk well to girls about that kind of thing."

"Fine, then I won't make you tell. I'll just walk around asking people what's wrong with dirty pie." No she won't, but it's funny to say. "Hey, watch the hair! You mess it up, you have to brush it back out!"

"You go right ahead," A.J. said, a little wide-eyed at the thought of it before chuckling, because he'd almost totally want to see that. "And I mess it up, I have to brush it, huh? Well, in that case..."

What started as light ruffling quickly turned into an attempt for a big mess.

"Eek!" Giggling, she tried batting his hand away before giving up and attacking his own hair. "This means war, war!"

At, yes, even the risk of his own hair, A.J. relented, declaring, "Then war there shall be! Let me remind you, though, that you, my dear, have much more hair. I have more to mess up!" Which he, chuckling, tried to make a good job of doing.

"Time out," she begged, reaching up to take out her barrettes. "Gotta get these out now, or I'll have to cut them out later, and we don't want to do that to my hair, right?"

"Time o--" Jaw hanging, A.J. was about to argue that you couldn't call time out in war, but then he realized why Anemone had called it and his jaw closed. He sighed, heavily, dramatically, and crossed his arms over his chest in an impatient gesture as she did that.

"Fine, fine. Are you done yet?"

"Am I done messing with your hair? Of course I am," she replied sweetly. She was, too, but only because then she was lunging to launch an all-out tickle-war. "No mercy, no quarter!"

Anemone's tidying up the library, and Gulliver is on diligent patrol for more Pi-rats. You can never be too sure about Pi-rats.

Someone bring me chocolate?
