Sneaky Spycraft: Period 4, Week 10

Having handwavily notified students that today's class was in the Danger Shop and to wear clothes that could get dirty, Aly hoped that everyone would find their way easily.  When the students entered the room, they would see that it was set up with a series of obstacles and a ropes course.  There was a 25 foot high climbing wall at one end of the room and ropes crisscrossed the ceiling in a variety of patterns.  On the floor there was a mud pit, cable walk, and other moddable obstacles.

Aly stood at the edge of the obstacles and waited for everyone to arrive.  "Okay everyone, this class is for a few reasons.  Someone mentioned wanting to learn how to work with a partner last week, and, for most of us, it was a bit of a stressful week so let's play a bit instead."  She grinned.  "At least I think it's playing.  Those of you who were in my class last spring have played with this before.  Doesn't mean you can't do it again.  The Danger Shop's safeties are on so you're not going to get hurt, but work together like that's not the case.  I haven't split you up into teams - you can go ahead and choose two or three people to work with."

"Anytime you're spying, your life is in the hands of your partner, your contact, your handler, your lover.  They screw up?  And you're going to end up hurt or dead.  Today, the stakes aren't nearly as high.  So have some fun with it."

Aly grinned, gesturing for them to pair up.

[OOC:  OCD threads will be coming is up!  I'm going to link to a few different obstacles, then you can feel free to mod whichever others you like.]

Sokka looked at the wall. And at Dōjima. And over at Aly.

"THERE ARE NO HANDHOLDS," he pointed out.

Dōjima looked at the wall and winced. "You don't have to yell, Sokka. I think Aly-sensei knows there's no handholds. She probably did it on purpose."

"Pffft. It's too high to climb."

Still, Sokka gave it a shot anyway, backing way up, running at the wall as fast as he could, and scrambling up as best as he could.

...And falling back down. "AAAAGH!"

"Hey, you okay?" she asked, offering him a hand up. "I don't think that's gonna work, but props for trying. Do we have, ano, tools? Rope? Anything? Even if you boost me up, we're still too short."

"No, nothing..." Sokka grumbled. "I... Ooh! Idea!"

He grinned at Dōjima. "She never said which direction we're supposed to go over it, right?"

He walked around to the side of the wall and, wrapped around the edge, with one arm and one leg on either side of the wall, slowly began inching up.

"This is a class on sneaky, I think being creative is required." Dōjima stepped back slightly, letting Sokka get a good head start. "I don't think we can get in trouble just because she didn't articulate the class requirements properly."

Sokka made it up and collapsed atop the wall. "Yeah. What you said. ...Owwwwww. I've got splinters in VERY uncomfortable places."

Dōjima pulled her hair back into a ponytail before starting up, hoping to keep it out of the way. "My bruises still have bruises from last week, I really don't want any splinters to top them off with," she said.

Her progress was a lot slower than Sokka's had been, and included a few back-slips, but she eventually made it to the top. "Ow ow ow. Aly-sensei is a cruel, cruel woman."

Sokka nodded. "We probably did it wrong, but... Yeah. Annnnnd... Now we're stuck up here." He peered down at the ground. "You wanna trust our descent to the safety protocols and risk a twisted ankle?"

"Two words: fireman's pole." Grinning, she walked over to the other side and used the slightly rounder of the posts to slide down. "Easy as pie!"

Sokka slid down after her. "Owww.... VIRTUAL splinters should not HURT this much!" He sighed. "Onward (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1720504.html?thread=105817784#t105817784), then?"

"So," Trielas eyes shifted back and forth between the wall and her partner. "If I give you a boost do you think you can pull yourself up?"

"I... maybe." Eve eyed the wall warily. "A boost and a toss in the air, maybe -- that's a really high wall."

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm stronger than I look," Triela said confidently. "I just wanted to make sure you'd be able to catch yourself once you got up there." She linked her fingers together to make a stirrup with her hands, "Whenever you're ready."

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay, then." Eve gave the wall one last glance before getting into position.

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"On three. One, two, three." Triela hadn't been kidding. She was definitely strong enough to give Eve a toss up to near the top of the wall. She was careful not to throw her partner too far because, as they'd discussed earlier, dying was bad.

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Eve let out a little yelp of surprise and caught the top of the wall, hauling herself up to straddle the top. "How are we going to get you up here?" she called down.

"I'm going to jump," Triela called out before doing precisely that. Her fingers gripped the top of the wall and she pulled herself up. "Told you I was good at this. Though I have to admit that this was easy, it's just brute strength."

Then she eyed Eve, "You okay, by the way? I guess that was a surprise."

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm fine," Eve assured her. "But yeah, that was definitely a surprise. And how the hell did you do that?" she asked, more than a bit of surprise in her voice.

"Cybernetics," Triela said off-handedly. "I'm mostly replacement parts these days. Stronger, faster, all that fun stuff."

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huh. That's odd." Eve shrugged but kept her balance as she moved to start getting down. "Kinda cool, though."

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think about it much. I guess I'm used to it." She stepped off the edge of the wall and landed in a crouch before turning to watch Eve, ready to catch her if she fell.

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Eve let go and fell because really, there was no easy way down.

Re: Climbing Wall

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Triela stepped forward to sort of catch her partner. Just enough to lessen the force of the fall rather than a full-on catch.

"You're not bad yourself, you know," she grinned.
