Library [03/10]

As soon as Sam came in to open the library, he was struck with the sudden need to organize things. Giving in to the urge seemed easier than ignoring it, and luckily, he had plenty of coffee to get him through the task.

"I'm feeling scarily productive," Sam said. "But I suppose I could take a break."

"I'd like to think it was just for me," Peter said as he put coffee and a bag from J,GOB on the table. "But I know better."

"Hey, you're the only one here," Sam pointed out.

"Me and the donuts," Peter replied.

"The donuts aren't why I'm taking a break," Sam said, smirking. "The coffee is much more important."

"Oh good," Peter said. "I'm glad you have your priorities."

"I do, they're good priorities," Sam said. "So, how are you doing?"

"Can't complain," Peter said. "Had a sub for class today, so that was easy."

Sam grinned. "Easier than normal? Do you think it would be too much to hope for a sub in Driver's Ed too?"

"Keep our fingers crossed?" Peter said. "It could be the easiest week since Spring Break."

"As long as we don't have any more simulations involving us nearly running someone over..." Sam trailed off, still looking a little horrified.

Peter reached over to pat Sam's arm in a comforting fashion.

"I guess running people over isn't something the average New Yorker is very worried about," Sam said.

"Usually we walk, take the train or bus," Peter said. "Or a cab."

Or one of the family cars, but no need to get into that, especially as Peter felt it was silly to waste a car when he could use public transport like everyone else.

"So you only have to worry about the driver running over people," Sam teased. He tried to picture Nathan in a cab, or on a bus, but it didn't work very well.

"Pffft," Peter said. "Their own fault for not getting out of the way."

"Oh, yeah, you're making me feel very confident about how safe it'll be to be a pedestrian if I ever visit you at home again."

"Like I'd let you get hurt on my watch," Peter said. "Dean would kill me."

"And then Nathan would kill him, and it would just start a whole cycle of death that no one needs to deal with."

"Generations from now Winchesters and Petrellis would still be feuding and they wouldn't even know why." Peter tsked. "Can't have that on my conscience. I'll just have to watch out for you."

"No, we can't have our families fighting like that," Sam said. "You'll keep me safe in the big scary city?"

"Cross my heart," Peter said, doing just that.

"Good," Sam said, grinning. "I don't have any specific way to keep you safe in return, but just know that I'll be looking out in general."
