Ye Shall Be As Gods? – Class 8, Period 3

A careful observer might note that Juli was looking mildly peaky today. A breakthrough in a project tended to make sleep scarce—especially when the breakthrough happens late at night. The snow giraffes she’d had to avoid on her way up to the school had only convinced her that she needed more sleep. Preferably right away.

Nonetheless, she was as neatly put together and composed as usual. Even slightly mirthful, but it was unlikely most of her students would recognize that. Once all her students had gathered. Juli smiled faintly and took a sip of her coffee. Mmmm. Coffee.

“I’m quite certain at least some of you have guessed the content of today’s class. Yes, midterms.” Thrilling. At least she didn’t have to do much talking today.

“Once you’ve received your test papers you may begin,” Juli said, “no two tests are alike, and I am looking for complete and well-thought answers. No matter your opinion I wish to see what reasoning you’ve got to back it up.”

She eyed the class, eyebrows quirking almost unnoticeably at the three sparkle-balls assuming they’re around she had instead of students and added dryly, “If you currently do not possess hands, or alternative means of writing, please see me once the exam has started.”

Yes. Juli needed more coffee for this.

“Begin.”

[Please to be waiting for the massive OCD is up! Yay!]

Re: Midterm Questions! Anemone

Anemone figured Dr. Mizrahi wanted honesty over pretty ideas, so she started writing, sans mental-filter.

Of course, she lacked any sort of filter most days, but she wasn't even trying for this assignment.

1. Monster is the label applied when someone wants to dehumanize something enough to treat him/her/it/them like shit and get away with it.

2. Do I think the potential to overcome condition is always there? Yes. Do I think it can always be completely removed? No.

I think it depends on the conditioning, and the intelligence level of the subject. There's always a Catch-22, it's just up to the specimen to leverage it properly. Supposedly, my conditioning 'broke' almost a year ago, but it still flairs up at entertaining times. Well, I'm entertained by it at least, it weirds other people out. It's up to me to find ways to work with it, and work around it.

If you've got a specimen of below-average intelligence, they may not be able to exploit the flaws inherent in their conditioning. That doesn't mean that the ability isn't there, just that the likelihood of it being overcome drops significantly.

3. I'm too lazy to alter anyone, because I don't see it being worth the effort to me. If I *had* to give someone something, I'd give them my spacial awareness. I was built to fly, and I kinda wish everyone could see the world the way that I do. It's beautiful.
