"Change of plans," Nathan said as he passed out that week's handouts. "This week we're covering Estate law. Your estate is your possessions. When you die - which I'm sure many of you felt was coming soon depending on how much you had to drink over Spring Break - this is the branch of law that covers what happens to your things.

"Everyone should have a will," Nathan said, with the confidence of one who came from a family where wills were drawn up as soon as children were old enough to sign their names. "Without one the government gets to decide who gets your things. Not uncommon? The government decides that it's going to keep your things. So you need something that prevents that from happening, even if all you own is your favorite pillow case.

"In your packets is a sample will." Nathan gave them a grin. "Don't worry, it's not legally binding. What I'd like you to do is read through, get the gist of what they're looking for, and then write up a will of your own. If you don't feel like giving out personal information as part of a class assignment, feel free to make up your assets and beneficiaries."

"I never knew you've been hankering to have a multilingual brother, Sammy."

Sam laughed. "I've been hankering to have a brother with serious feelings towards religion. And now I finally have one."

Dean shrugged again, a little uncomfortable. "Yeah, well don't have me joining a priesthood or anything. I'm not that serious. Plus, I don't think I have the right temperment."

"Or the right love of celibacy," Sam replied.

"Vkandis doesn't ask for that anyways," Dean pointed out.

"Which makes him the perfect god for you."

"I do believe that's what I've been saying all along," Dean said. He paused. "Y'know, if you're so hot about religion and all, you might thing about looking into Vkandis and the Kin too."

"I don't know," Sam said, shrugging. "That's your thing, I don't want to mess with it." The fact that all his praying had gotten him nowhere so far wasn't something he was going to mention at the moment.

Dean tilted his head as he regarded his brother. "I'm pretty sure there isn't a rule about only one Kin per family or anything," he said.

Sam was quiet for a moment. "You'd have to ask Karal before I'd even consider it. I don't want to think about it if he wouldn't be okay with it."

"I'm sure he'll be totally fine with it, but I'll ask if it'll make you feel better. I mean, hey, if he didn't turn me away, he certainly isn't going to you."

"Yeah, but you're a lot closer to Karal than I am," Sam said. "So it was different with you."

"Well, you're close to me and I'm Kin now. I'll put in a good word for you with Vkandis if need be."

"And to think, just a little while ago you were worried he wouldn't even accept you."

Dean ducked his head with a shy smile. "Yeah, well, just goes to prove, He'll accept anyone."

"I don't know about that. I still think he's pretty picky," Sam replied.

"Maybe," Dean allowed, with the same shy smile. "But still, can put in a good word."

"That would be really cool. If Karal's okay with it," Sam added.

"I'm pretty sure he will be," Dean said. "As long as he doesn't think I'm twisting your arm or anything."

"I can tell him you're not if he thinks you are."

"That's a big part of the ceremony of joining," Dean said. "Asking that you're making the decision of your own free will."

"And you'd be okay with this?" Sam asked.

Dean looked at him blankly. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know. All sorts of reasons," Sam said.

"Like what?" Dean asked. "Because I can't think of any."
