Library [29.02]

Unlike the last time Karal had opened the library during a school break, this time he actually knew it was a break.

But he was beyond sick of sitting in his room, and there was still a lot of work to be done. So, after feeding Trenor, Karal gathered up a stack of notes and scrolls, and Altra Jumped them to the library.

He wasn't expecting anyone to stop by, but the library was open, with a very engrossed Karal occupying one of the tables.

He smiled, not unkindly. "An interrupted routine can be difficult to adjust."

"I was, for a brief time, my country's Envoy, but what I am is a priest." He sat up a little straighter. "I am a Sun-priest of Vkandis Sunlord."

He blinked once. "Who is Vkandis Sunlord?"

"Vkandis Sunlord is my god, the god who holds His Hands over Karse." Karal pulled his medal - a palm-sized, gold, sun-in-glory - from under his shirt and held it out. "This is one of His symbols."

Altra stretched and yawned, and began grooming one front paw.

Tilting his head slightly, the librarian looked at the medal closely. Not about to touch. It was not his place.

"You believe in him?" Simple curiosity, nothing condescending.

"I have seen Him manifest in the world. I witnessed Him crown the Son of the Sun with His own hands. I have called on Him and He has answered." Karal's smile was very far away. "He is real."

It was like being asked 'why do you breathe'. Karal shook his head slowly. "I don't know how to answer that question. Vkandis Sunlord is my heart, my soul, my centre. I serve, with everything I am. He exists. I have faith. It is as simple as that."
