Library [22.02]

Karal's face was red with cold, his hair was definitely trying to revert to hobo status, and his nose was frozen.

This would be because he'd begun the day with an early morning ride, through the Preserve and down to the beach. The wind whipping off the ocean had been cold, and it had started to rain by the end, but it left him with a clear head and in an exceptionally good mood.

Once the library was open, he settled in with a pot of tea and indulged himself with a book that was just for fun.

Karal wasn't sure he believed Liir, but, again, he didn't push. "It doesn't bother me in the least. And the green passed, so hopefully this will also pass, sooner rather than later."

He breathed out.

"That said," he said, pushing all of that aside as he'd dealt with it quite enough, as far as he was concerned. Especially after all he'd told to Andrew.

"There's a dinner tonight, after the club," he said. "It was going to be in the park, but considering the weather..."

He shook his head.

"Professor Ambrose wanted to meet everyone who'd be coming before we actually went. I'm sorry about the lack of notice."

He frowned slightly, mentally rearranging things, then smiled. "It's all right. I'll just ask Evey to meet me later than we'd planned. I think it sounds like good idea, and I'd quite like to meet Professor Ambrose."

He'd been meaning to introduce himself for the past couple of weeks, but somehow he'd just not found the time.

"I'll have to apologize to Evey then," he said with a faint smile. "I certainly didn't mean to take you from her. I just didn't want to displease Professor Ambrose, considering all he's doing."

Karal waved it away. "Glory, don't be silly! No apologies are necessary," he insisted. "Of course you don't want to, and if we're going in this trip, we need to make plans, the sooner the better."

He smiled.

"Then I'll see you at language club; I'll let you know where we're meeting then."

He looked at Karal once more, then at his hands, and finally bowed his head.

"I'll see you later, Karal. Have a good day."

It took only a few quick steps to reach him, and then Karal was reaching out to hug him. Something told him Liir needed it right then. "We will find answers for you, I promise." If not in Oz, then somewhere else.

He hugged him back and once more leaned up to press a kiss to Karal's cheek before pulling away.

"If I have any answers," he said "and not just questions, perhaps I'll find them, yes."

Karal nodded as he stepped back. "Enjoy your day," he said, then tilted his head and smiled. "And the colours don't look at all badly on you."

"At least it doesn't clash with my confounded eyes," he said with a smile before nodding again and heading on his way.

"See you later, Karal! I don't want to be late for work."

Karal waved a good bye, looking after him for a moment, before returning to the desk.

It took him quite some time to get back into his book.
