Sometime during the night, the dog thing had worn off, and Sam had gone back to being human-shaped. That alone was enough to put him in a good mood as he went to open the library.

"Yeah, I feel fine, aside from the fact that I ate more meat over the weekend than I usually do in a week," Sam said.

"Salad and pasta for dinner?" She teased.

"That's going to be the plan," he replied. "Hey, thank you for taking such good care of me over the weekend."

"Okay, one, boyfriend. Two, cute puppy in desperate need of a walk and game of fetch. No thanking me, okay?"

"Hey, you could have dumped me on Dean all weekend. Not that I think you would have, but the option was there."

"I could dump you on Dean every weekend, but that's not nearly as much fun."

Sam grinned, and leaned over the counter to try to give her a kiss. "You're still an awesome girlfriend for dealing with my canine issues."

She leaned in to meet him halfway with the kissage. "Yeah, well, I try. Just remember that if I turn into a cat or something."

Sam took a step back like he was genuinely studying Dawn. "I can see you being a cat more than a dog," he said. "Some kind of pretty, friendly cat who still won't eat regular food."

"Regular food is boring," she explained oh-so-carefully. "But you see me as a cat? Really? Like rubbing against your legs and claiming you in the name of me and then giving you the brush off as soon as you wanted to pet me?"

"I like all of that except the last part," Sam said. "No giving me the brush off. If you're going to claim me, you have to deal with me."

"You're gonna need such a lint brush," she told him, laughing. "Maybe two or three."

"It can't be that much worse than finding Scout's sheddings everywhere," Sam said. "I'll be prepared just in case."

"Also, be prepared to never, ever, ever discuss a litter box issue."

"Hey, we're not discussing you taking me on necessary walks. I'm fine with that working the other way around."

She beamed at him. "You so win awards for boyfriending. Do they have awards for that? Because they should."

"I think they do. That's how I got you," Sam said. Never let it be said that he couldn't be ultimately cheesy when it was possible.

"Okay, so you're a colossal cheesy dork, but awwwwwwwwwwwww."
