Sometime during the night, the dog thing had worn off, and Sam had gone back to being human-shaped. That alone was enough to put him in a good mood as he went to open the library.

"So you're going to become vegetarian but only when you're not eating?" Dean cocked his head at his brother. "Dude, not that I want to encourage you to give up the pleasures of meat, but doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose?"

"I meant I'll go vegetarian after lunch, so you have no excuse to eat my food," Sam replied.

"Not that I ever really need an excuse," Dean said with a smirk. "And you totally owe Karal a thank you for filling in for you with radio."

"So I heard. It sounded like he survived though," Sam said. "I'll definitely have to thank him for putting up with you all night."

"It wasn't all night. He left afterwards to go prove how flexible he is to his girl."

"Somehow, I sincerely doubt that," Sam said. "This is Karal we're talking about."

"You haven't seen him when he talks about her," Dean said. "He's got it bad."

"Yeah, but to someone like Karal, having it bad means kissing on the first date. He's a priest, Dean. He's even more pure than I am."

"It's not like Vkandis asks for celibacy or anything," Dean pointed out. "He's actually very open minded for a god."

That got Sam to break out into a wide grin. "You've been doing your homework."

"Well, yeah. I mean, this is important stuff to know. Because face it, celibacy and all that? Would so be a deal breaker for me."

"I can imagine," Sam said. "So, Vkandis is fine with sex, that's good. Have you come across anything that's raised a red flag?" From Dean's enthusiasm, Sam was pretty sure he hadn't.

"Nah. Hates demons, likes fire. And cats. Free will and helping people are big things." Dean shrugged casually. "Pretty sure it's a good fit for me."

"He sounds perfect for you," Sam said. "Have you talked to Karal about whatever you should be doing next?"

"We're uh doing some kind of ceremony or such Saturday at dawn," Dean said in as casual a tone as he could manage. Because really, he didn't want Sammy to freak on him about this.

"Really? What kind of ceremony? When were you going to tell me about this?" Sam asked.

"You've been a dog," Dean reminded him. "Kinda hard to carry on serious conversations."

"I could still understand you," Sam pointed out. "What kind of ceremony is this?"

Dean shrugged. "I'm not sure exactly of the details. Guess it could be considered something like a baptism or confirmation or something."

Of course Sam should have known that it wouldn't be anything dangerous since Karal was involved, but still. "Judging from what we've seen Karal do, it'll probably be amazing," he said.

"Yeah," Dean said with a shrug. "Hey, maybe I'll get to burn something, huh?"

"That would make it the best ceremony ever for you," Sam said with a laugh. "You know I'll want a full report, right? I want to know what happens."

"I'm sure the squirrels will take notes for you."

"I bet they missed me terribly on Saturday."

"Terribly," Dean said deadpan. "Though if I'd brought you, you probably would've spent the entire broadcast chasing them around the station."
