The desks were paired off again, each with a set of tools, and there was a crate full of ~~completely modable~~ spare parts.

Yes, kids, it is project time again, and Glitch was standing at the front of the class looking very delighted by the whole thing. Really, this was probably his favorite kind of class to teach.

"Alright, class," he said with a smile. "Today, you're going to build something out of nothing. Pick up some parts and start to put them together. Don't worry if you can't get it to work or don't have a set design for it. It doesn't even have to have a real function, if you can't find one, heh. The point of this is for you to get an idea of what it's like to start building something with these materials."

There may or may not have been a moment or two where he bounced ever so slightly, but those moments should be ignored.

"And don't forget that after next weeks break, you'll need to be ready to bring in your preliminary designs for your final projects."

Nothing like ending the lecture on something to strike fear into the hearts of his students, though that wasn't entirely intended.

He noticed. It felt a thousand times more. Whether that was him or the green of his skin...

"I'm sure," he said with a nod. "I just... I look like her."

And there was something to that phrase, more to it than he even realized for the moment.

Andrew looked closely at Liir's hand, running his thumb along the soft green skin. He kissed it again.

"Like her?"

He blinked, because it was so odd to think Andrew didn't know who he meant. Of all the people...

They would have to talk sometime today. Sometime soon, anyway.

"The Witch. She had-- she was green. That's why the blue didn't bother me. She was green. Like this."

"Well, it's a lovely shade of green," Andrew said softly. Rather like one of his favorite comic book characters, but he thought it best not to bring up that connection just now.

"Is, um, everything green?"

He flushed a deep pine green at the cheeks and nodded. He'd checked that after he'd discovered his verdigris, feeling a strange sort of deja vu at the motions. It was like when he'd first come to Kiamo Ko.

But nothing had been green then.

"Sorry," he said immediately.

Andrew smiled up at Liir. "These things happen, right? I mean, I turned into John once. Not like turning a different color, but definitely not like being, you know, me. Well, I was still me, I just looked like John."

He was confusing himself.

"Anyway," he continued with a shake of his head, "do you want to hang out after class? You can come to my room."

He thought about his meeting with Michael, who might be able to fix him.

Though as he thought about that, something struck him oddly.

"All right," he said. He'd... leave a note on his door. No, that seemed disrespectful; Michael was trying to help him. But as long as Andrew didn't find him disgusting, an hour or so with Andrew might be good for him. Definitely good for his mood.

He just had to make sure he was in his room on time.

"If you're busy, that's okay," Andrew added.

"I just miss you."

It melted him as surely as-- oh goodness, would he be allergic to water as well? He'd have to test that.

"No, I just... Michael said he might be able to do something about this, so I should probably wait in my room. You can wait with me if you like, though. I... I miss you too. And--"

And he felt very unsure of himself, his Liirness wavering in the face of the green.

"Sure! I'll come wait with you," he said quickly, smiling.

He stood up and leaned in to give Liir a quick kiss on the cheek. "Don't worry. I'm sure someone here can fix this, and even if they can't, well, I don't care what color you are."

His hand closed around Andrew's like a vice at those words.

"All right," he said.

"I'll just wait for you after class," he said, bending down for one last quick peck on the cheek.

He had to work to make himself let go, but he nodded and went back to his work.

He shouldn't disturb class.
