Library [Sunday, February 17]

Lee was back in the library after showing up yesterday and getting an eyeful of Dr. Boom. Or Doomy. Whatever his name was, Lee didn't much care.

Since it was his regular shift, he was set up with breakfast and some water and some homework that he thought he should at least try to do. Except, he was kind of ignoring that so he could read a book on driving. He preferred flying still but figured he should make an attempt to learn to drive.

Lee's decided that U turns are evil.

G'Kar thought it was well past time he visited the library. The question was; where to start? Perhaps the young man behind the counter could provide a suggestion.

"Excuse me?" He asked softly, not really wanting to disturb the fellow from what appeared to be intense reading.

It didn't take much to disturb Lee especially when this driving crap was hard. He looked up, took a moment to boggle at the man's appearance before asking, "Yep? Need any help, sir?"

He'd grown used to the boggling by now. Guess spots weren't very commonplace here.

"Hopefully." Now that he was here, he really didn't know what he was in the mood for. Asking for 'a book to read' was not going to provide the man with anything helpful either. Maybe some of that 'magic' stuff that young lady had spoken about in that shop. "Where is the section on magic? If there is one."

"I think there's a supernatural section," Lee said, sitting up and glancing down the aisles of the library. "What kind of magic?"

What kind of magic indeed. He'd asked much the same thing. The book he'd purchased at the Magic Box was interesting, but not quite what he'd been hoping for.

"I'm not quite certain, to be honest. I know there are a number of people on the island with powers; some call it magic, some not. I suppose something along those lines would be a good place to start." He thought for a moment. "Intuitive magic, I believe it is called. A natural ability as opposed to a skill one has to learn."

"Okay," Lee said, fiddling around with the computer and pulling up the pertinent information. "I'm not sure how much the library has on acquiring stuff like that but I think there's at least some history books in this section."

He scribbled a few numbers on a piece of paper and pushed it towards G'Kar and then pointed in the direction those aisles were in. "The magic's section over in that area, sir."

"I'll have to check out the history section as well at some point. Thank you Mr..." He waited for the other man to fill in the blank.

"Adama," Lee answered. "Lee Adama, sir."

"Pleasure to meet you, Lee Adama. I am G'Kar." He smiled lightly. "No need to call me sir."

"All right, G'Kar," Lee said, returning the smile. "Are you new around the island? Or just new to my library shift?"

"Fairly new. I arrived a few weeks ago, but this is the first time I've ventured into the library. So that would in effect, be a double yes answer to your last question." He smirked.

"Good to meet you then and welcome to the island," Lee said. "Hope you're settling in okay and all. It took me awhile to adjust."

"I'm settling very well. There are a few things that seem...unusual, but I have seen a number of strange things in my time. I imagine I'll get used to it all soon enough." He hoped, anyway.

"You and me both," Lee said. "This whole planet's weird to me so it takes time, I guess."

"How long have you been here?"

"Since last summer," Lee said, "so over six months now. I didn't think I'd last two months, honestly."

"You've been here for quite some time, then." He eyed the young man curiously. "What do you mean about 'not lasting'?"

"I'm not from this planet either," Lee said, shrugging. "Didn't think I'd ever get adjusted."

"I see," he replied, nodding. "It can take some time to adjust to unfamiliar surroundings. I spent a few years aboard a spacestation, filled with a large populace of diverse species. One does get used to such things after awhile, I assure you." He smiled.

"Yeah, it just took some time," he agreed. "I like it here though. It's not so bad."

"It has been very interesting, I agree. Do you know many people here? I am still working on meeting the island's residents. I doubt I'll come to know everyone, but now at least, I can add one another." He smirked.

"I know a lot of students but not adults," he admitted. "I don't tend to get into town very much which is just because I'm lazy. I should though."

"There are a lot of interesting things to see in town. I've even met a few students there." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Odds are high that you might not even know them, though. There is a great many students in attendance at this school."

"There really is," Lee agreed. "A lot more than the school I came from. And a lot of people from places I didn't even know existed. It's very diverse."

G'Kar nodded. "That's what makes it so interesting." He smiled. "I suppose I should let you return to your reading."

"Yeah, my very interesting reading on how to drive a car," Lee said, shaking his head and sounding amused. "If you need any help, I'll be around."

He chuckled. "Thank you. Good luck with the driving."

The library's closed except for Bob and the other aides.

And now Lee's added parallel parking to the evil list.

I have to step out in just a minute but other than that, around all day!
