It wasn't Lee's day today but when he came down and found the library closed, he opened it, turned on the lights and just decided to hang around.

The librarian was shelving books now, curious as to why the SC looked off.

He loathed to visit it again, but it necessary...

Barely two hours after Doom walked in - once he was satisfied that Professor Glitch would be impressed by the work he had put in - he began to leave.

It seemed that Special Collections wasn't a big fan of this Doom and his invention, though. Before Doom could make it to the door, a book flew out and hit him in the head. The book scampered away by the time Doom had turned around to threaten it, but that didn't really matter at this point. It was as if the book reprogrammed him to such a degree that he didn't feel like committing violence against it as retribution. In fact, all of the anger that normally clouded his mind seemed to have been lifted.

Doom felt... nice. Plus he had made some progress with his invention for Glitch's class. That was... NEAT!

As he left Special Collections, he found himself whistling a jaunty tune. Well, the jauntiness was hindered slightly by the mechanical quality of his voice, but it was the thought that counted.

"Hello!" Doom said cheerfully when he spotted the librarian.

...

"Hello," He replied, barely blinking at the armor and cape and... cheerfulness.

"How are you today, good sir?" Doom asked. "Good, Doom hopes!"

"Doom?" He asked slowly. "An interesting name."

"Doctor Doom, actually," Doom said. "But that's an honorary title. Doom is not actually a doctor. But Doom rules his own country, so I can give myself titles."

"Perhaps Doom will deem himself Lord of High Fives. Doom requests a high five!" Doom held his hand up for a high five.

The Librarian raised his hand out of reflex. Not quite sure what to expect.

"You have your own country?" He asked curiously.

Doom slapped him five. "Doom declares this awesome."

"Yes. Doom is the ruler of Latveria, a small but newly prosperous country in Eastern Europe. Doom declares it to be the Land of Awesome."

He frowned faintly, staring at his hand for a moment. Odd little thing there. "Will you rename it that now?"

"Of course not," Doom said. "But it may go on our license plates."

That earned him a faint smile. "That would be interesting at the very least."

"Perhaps on the currency as well," Doom said. "It is something for Doom to think about."

"I must say that you run a fine looking library, my good man."

"Indeed." He looked over at the Special Collections. "Were you looking for something in there?"

"I was researching alternate power sources for new boot thrusters for Professor Glitch's class," Doom said. "Doom desires to be more innovative than I would be if I stuck to traditional sciences."

There were other reasons for Doom entering, of course, but he didn't have them in mind for some reason as he spoke to the Librarian.

How odd, that.

"Did Doom find what he needed." The corners of his lips curled up without his consent.

"Doom did indeed. The boot thrusters I invent for class will likely revolutionize the world of personal travel," Doom said.

"For the betterment of mankind?"

"Ideally," Doom said. "But it'll probably be more for fun and recreation than for human improvement."

"A toy?" He asked. "You were in there to make a toy?"

"No more a toy than your average bicycle," Doom said. "It is a serious instrument for transportation that is more often used recreationally. Ideally it would be used for personal travel, but Doom is okay with the more fun uses as well."

"Of course." The Librarian was unsure how exactly this was something the Special Collections was needed for still, but...

"I wish you luck, Doctor Doom." ~~Because typos made him cry~~

"Thank you, my friend!" Doom said. "Have a great day!"
