He, of course, has the usual cup of coffee. And also a bowl full of cinnamon hearts for the sharing. He's experimenting by dropping a few of the candies in to the coffee and stirring them around. It actually tastes pretty good.

As usual, he's off for class now. But he will be back!

After class, he's munching absently on the cinnamon candies and working on reviewing the week's notes. Especially his plans for Inventiontronics, as there's a few things about his design that he's still not entirely sure about.

Sky came to visit Bridge after class like usual, smiling ear to ear. Normally he hated Valentine's Day and considered it to be frivolous. But normally he didn't have a boyfriend. He was dressed all in red for the occasion, in fact.

"Hey!" Bridge looks up from his sketches. "You're looking cheerful," he observes with a smile.

"Morning," said Sky, still smiling back. "Yeah. I can't stand Valentine's Day normally... funny how having a boyfriend changes things, I guess." There it was- that odd urge to bounce.

"I know what you mean," Bridge says. His last two Valentines hadn't been great, last year especially, but this year... this year is different.

"Are you going to the dance, then?" Sky asked. "I had myself convinced I wasn't going to go, then I figured I was going to get dragged along anyway, so I stopped at the ticket table and... I bought two tickets," he finished, going a wee bit red.

"This is the first year I've actually got someone to go *with*, so yeah, I'm definitely going," Bridge nods.

"Good to hear," said Sky. "Troy came by to ask me after I bought the tickets, so... we kinda asked each other." And before he knew it, a bounce had escaped. "Er."

Bridge laughs. "Xander asked me to the dance on the radio," he replies. "And then I went and got the tickets. So, I guess all four of us were about the team effort approach?"

"Hey, whatever works," said Sky, giving the thumbs-up. "That was a nice way for him to ask you."

"I think he was pretty confident that I wasn't gonna say no," Bridge admits with a grin.

"True," said Sky, nodding. "Still, it was pretty sweet." He nervously tugged his shirt down, then said, "I hope I can make it through another shift at the banana stand tomorrow. Wearing a banana suit tends to put a damper on my day." ~~Of course, Sky had no idea that he'd be getting boysnuggles all night tonight.~~

Which consists of a cupcake. With appropriately festive pink icing. Shh.

Bridge is out and about in the stacks, putting away returns. The goofy smile that appears on his face every so often is for an entirely different reason, though. He loves books, but not like *that*.

Jen's not particularly feeling like being alone today, so right now she's decided to go hang out where the closest thing she has to a friend (so far) around here is.

So she's sitting at one of the tables near the front desk, turning her Time Force badge over in her hands. It's not the one she gave to Wes, of course, but it still reminds her of him.

On his way back to the desk to reload the cart, Bridge catches sight of Jen.

"Hey!" he says cheerfully, sliding in to a chair next to her.

Jen's not admitting she's here to hang out with him, but she looks up and nods. "Bridge. Hey."

Bridge frowns a little. Jen is not, he's noticed, the most cheerful of people in general, but something in particular seems to be bothering her today.

"How are you?" he asks carefully. Let's just ignore the fact that he's already seen her today, in class.

Jen turns the badge over in her fingers again -- it's hardly more than a couple of months old, but around the edges it's already developed that kind of sheen you would see on something that's been heavily handled. "It's February 14, 2008," she says quietly. "A little less than seven years since . . . you know."

It takes Bridge a moment to recall what she's referring to, but when he does, the frown deepens a little. He doesn't know a *lot* about the Time Force team. Perhaps understandably, given the dangers of altering the timestream even more. But he knows it was around this time of year that they'd travelled back in time to 2001. "Since everything," he offers in a quiet voice.

"I wish I could go find him," Jen says. "I mean, I could, but my ship's damaged, and I can't even get these to work right any more." She taps a spot behind her right ear, where the compact scanner controls are (partly) concealed, and what looks for all the world like a 2001 pair of Oakley sunglasses telescopes out and almost seems to materialize over her eyes.

"Your ship?" Bridge does his best to quash the excited curiosity that rises in him as soon as she mentions a ship, because this so isn't the time for that. But then she brings out the scanners and Bridge can't help the expression of wide-eyed surprise at that. "Are those..." he trails off.

"Time Force-issue visual scanners? Yeah," Jen says, nodding -- and smiling just a tiny bit at Bridge's obvious excitement. "And I do have a ship . . . it got damaged coming through the time vortex."

"I could," Bridge pipes up hesitantly. "If you wanted, I mean. The technology's a bit more advanced than what I'm used to, okay, a lot more advanced, but I think I could work with it, maybe, and it couldn't hurt, right?" He glances over at her, not even aware that he hadn't actually mentioned what he was offering to do. It was probably pretty clear, regardless.

Hey, Jen's only known and worked in close quarters with Trip for a good while now. It's perfectly clear what Bridge is trying to say, assuming Bridge-speak is pretty close to Trip-speak.

"I'd like that," she says. "I just want to get it off the beach . . . if I can find a place to park it."

"I can help with that too!" Now Bridge is grinning at her. "My boyfriend, he's the one who owns the apartments, you remember the party last month? Part of that roof is a landing pad and parking for ships. As far as I know, there's space for at least one more up there."

"I didn't even notice," Jen says, embarrassed. "Some police officer, huh?"

"Well, there were tarps and things," Bridge says reasonably. "Plus we were busy shooting cheese at the moon. It's understandable."

Jen has to concede this, and nods. ". . . also there were cookies."

"Exactly!" Bridge nods. "Cookies are distracting. Especially if you're from a time where they don't exist," his expression might give away just how fond he was of *that* particular idea.

"Ugh," Jen says, and it's really a very eloquent 'ugh.' "Don't remind me."

"Oh! Hey! I'll be right back," Bridge says, and wanders over to the desk to grab the bowl of candy. "They're not cookies, but, still. Candy!" he says with a grin, placing it on the table between them.

Jen does smile now, even if it's just for a moment, as she takes a small handful of candy from the bowl and then self-consciously puts it back piece by piece until she's only holding two.

And then one.

"If it's edible and it didn't exist any more in the thirty-first century, I probably want it," she assures him.

"You can have more than one," he says, grinning shyly at her. "That's why I brought it. To share with people."

Jen unwraps the candy and pops it into her mouth before she grabs another one, unwrapping it with a little more decorum this time. "People plural," she points out.

"The day's almost over and there's lots left," Bridge points out in return. "Also there's two of us here, and two makes a plural, so there you go."

Jen sighs. "Winning arguments is a lot easier when I can just shoot at things," she teases.

Bridge just smirks at her as he pops a piece of candy in to his mouth. Or rather, gives her the Bridge version of a smirk, which isn't terribly smirk-like at all.

With the returns put away, Bridge spends fifth period tidying up, and then just hanging out at the desk, yes, eating more candy.

I am being made to work on my day off. Again. Because one of my coworkers requested it off even though this day is supposed to be MINE MINE MINE. Around for a few hours, gone from 10-4 Pacific.
