Conflict Management and Resolution - Period 1 (9-10) - Class # 6

Wilson was leaning against the desk, a stack of blue books and a stack of tests. There were none of the usual treats today, since it was a test day.

When the students were settled in their chairs, Wilson picked up the tests and the blue books.

“Good morning, students. I hope you’re all ready for the test today. You have all class period to complete the test and may use as many blue books as necessary for your answers.”

With instructions given, Wilson set about passing out the test and the blue books.

The Test: [ooc: As always, actual answers are fantastic, handwavey is also most acceptable]

Short Answers:

1) Define “conflictology”.
2) List seven of the nine “Core Concepts”.
3) List six of the eight “typical types of conflicts”.
4) Define ADR and list 4 types of ADRs.
5) Define “Peace Process”. (Be sure to identify the 6 key elements of the process in your answer.)

Essay:

Instructions: Answer three of the four essay questions. Be as detailed as possible.

1) Describe an International Conflict and how it could be resolved using Mediation.

2) Describe an Intractable Conflict and how it could be resolved using Arbitration.

3) Using the example from last class of Country Cat and Country Dog, identify key components of the peace process and what aspects of the scenario challenged those processes.

4) Take the idea of the “Core Concepts” of conflict and link them to aspects of the peace process. For extra credit describe why a core concept is problematic to the peace process and/or how the peace process directly addresses the core concepts.

[OOC: OCDs are up early like due to insanity at work. Snow days are only fun up till you have to go back. :( ]

Lana ~~handwavily~~ took the test, probably getting a near perfect score.

~~This Mun had a snow day too and thus lots of making up work as well!~~

Prue ~~handwavily~~ took the test and would probably get an A on it.

Sky ~~handwavily~~ took the test, glad it was this week, as he was sure he'd do much better than he would have last week.

Teyla ~~handwavily~~ took the test and got almost every answer right.

Wait for him to ping in first please.

Chris was present. And wondering who had sent him flowers with no note.

Lana stopped over after class and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, the roses were beautiful."

"So were yours," Chris said, smiling and squeezing her hand.

"So, how'd you do on the test?" she asked.

"I think I did pretty well," Chris said. "You?"

"It was pretty easy. I studied a lot at work on Tuesday. It's been pretty quiet there."

Chris nodded. "Yeah, almost too quiet for this place."

"Ooh! Bite your tongue!" Lana said teasingly. "Now something insane will happen over the weekend!"

"We should go away," Chris suggested. "Just in case."

"Go away?" Lana asked, looking confused.

"Take a trip," Chris said. "Go spend the weekend somewhere that isn't Fandom."

"Really?" she said, smiling shyly. "That might be really nice. Where did you have in mind?"

He shrugged. "I have no idea," he admitted with a sheepish grin. "Anywhere in particular you'd want to go?"

Lana bit her lip. "Well...it depends on how exotic you want to get. My former guardian, Lex, owns houses or cottages in all sorts of amazing places and since you can orb us anywhere... I'm sure he'd let us use one of them."

"I'm open to anything," Chris said with a grin. "Where do you want to go?"

Lana thought for a minute. "Well... Lex owns this little secluded villa on a beach in the Mediterranean," she suggested. "Has a housekeeper slash cook and everything. Might be nice. Warm weather, sun and sand, just the two of us?"

"Do you have a bikini?" Chris asked.

She grinned. "As a matter of fact, I do."

"We have a winner!" he declared, smirking at her.

She laughed. "I'll call Lex after class to check, but I know he won't mind."

Chris grinned. "Great, I'm looking forward to it. I don't have any more classes after this one, so we can go whenever you want."

"We could leave this afternoon?" she suggested. "I just have my ethics class left."

"Works for me. We can pack and be there in time for a late dinner," Chris said.

"Wonderful," Lana said with a grin. "Anything in particular you want for dinner? I'm told the woman there is an incredible chef."

"Nah, I'm not picky," Chris said. "As long as we get to spend some time together, I'm happy."

She beamed and leaned in to kiss him quickly on the cheek again. "Then I'll see you after my Ethics class."

"Cool," he grinned.

After Prue took her test she stopped by Chris' desk.

"Thank you for the flowers," she said with a fond smile. "That was sweet."

Chris smiled. "You deserved them. I figured you probably didn't have a date or anything."

"True," she said, nodding. "Teenage boys don't really do it for me. No offense."

He's around if you need him.
