Fandom High School Host Club - Sunday, February 10 - Music Room: Late Afternoon

On this particular afternoon, soft classical music could be heard throughout the Music room at Fandom High. Tamaki had brought with him a small stereo and had been sure to have plenty of waltzing music on hand. In addition to the music, he'd brought two stacks of handouts, which he stacked neatly next to the stereo.

Tamaki smiled at everyone as they filed in, then bowed low in greeting.

"My fellow students and brand new hosts," he said cheerily, "Welcome to the Fandom High School Host Club's second ever meeting!" He smiled and gestured to the first stack of handouts. "First of all, I would like each Host to take a look at these basic lessons in etiquette. You will all be expected to behave like gentlemen while you are in the club! Do not forget," he winked. "I would also like all of you to see me when you have a moment, for I shall be taking costume theme suggestions for upcoming meetings." He turned to the guests. "I shall also take costume theme requests from the ladies, if they have any ideas," he added, with a disarming smile, "For their input is the most precious of all. Our aim is to delight!"

"As I mentioned in my e-mail earlier this week, you will all be learning to waltz today. A gentleman is graceful and light on his feet, Hosts," he said smoothly, sweeping his arm through the air as he spoke and stopping it in front of the second stack of papers. These are your dance step diagrams. Study them carefully, then choose a dance partner and give the waltz a try! I will be watching, and please do ask me if you're unsure. Give it your best effort! On occasion, the Host Club will have parties, and parties require dancing!"

After a moment, he grinned and cocked his head to the side, raising a hand to his chin. "I would like to add that I am also available to dance, and honored to do so, should any of the lovely volunteers feel lonely or wish to test my skill and grace."

He raised his hands and clapped them sharply, beaming with glee as he did so. "Begin!"

There might have been a slight smirk and chuckle, but he hid that behind his hand. "I was curious to see what all this was, apart from a point of extreme nervousness for my roommate," he said gesturing to Teddy.

Tamaki remained on his knee, smiling up appreciatively at what he thought was a very nice yougn beauty. "This is the Host Club, dear princess," he explained. "We are learning to waltz today, but, starting next week, we will all be available for entertaining lovely people such as yourself."

Haku continued to smile. "Why thank you," he said sincerely. "However." Haku crouched down to the same level that Tamaki was at. "Can I tell you a secret?"

Tamaki smiled, pleased that he has achieved such a response. "You may tell me anything you wish."

Taking a deep breath. Haku braced himself for the reaction. "I'm not a girl."

Shock! Horror! What had he done?! Tamaki drew back, his face frozen in terror and completely scarlet with embarrassment.

He hadn't quite expected that reaction. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to shock you like that. If it makes you feel better a lot of people think I'm a girl when they first meet me."

He stood immediately, brushing himself off and looking desperate to find another subject. He panicked a little when nothing came to mind. "I'm s-so sorry," he cried, although he was more terrified that his lovely-girl-detection sensors were completely and 100% wrong. It was as though his world was crashing down around him and he was utterly lost.

"No, it's really all right," Haku insisted, trying to give him a reassuring smile. "I mean, I know I look girly and dress girly, so it's not your fault that you thought that I was a girl."

That still did not make his absolutely failsafe girl-detecting sensors feel any better. His ego was bruised! He had been wrong! He did the only thing he felt he could do at that point, immediately rushing to the nearest corner and dropping into his squatty sulking position, his back to the room.

It didn't help much for Haku's ego either. He wasn't really sure what to do now. He'd never had someone with a reaction quite like that.

"Right then," he nodded, trying not to seem dejected as he stood there.

It took him a very, very long time to piece together his wits, at which point he very carefully peered over his shoulder at Haku. In fact, he might have even thought Haku looked a little sad. Then, he felt pretty awful. Sighing and drawing himself to his feet, he returned to where Haku was, clearing his throat awkwardly. What on earth should he say?

Haku was about to turn and leave, he'd explain to Teddy later.

He paused as Tamaki came back and just stood there as awkwardly as Haku was.

"I'm Haku, by the way," he said extending his hand, since he couldn't think of what else to do.

"Ah... Tamaki Suou," he said softly, shaking Haku's hand. "I apologize for my mistake. That was rather ungentlemanly of me," he admitted, his voice sheepish. "Was there something you wanted to ask me?"

Haku's head tilted curiously hearing the Japanese name and switching to the other language. "//Are you Japanese then?//" He smiled.

Tamaki immediately brightened. "//Why, yes, my friend, Iam!//" was the proud declaration.

"//I am too,//" Haku said with a small bow. "//Or at least kind of.//"

"//Only kind of?//"

Haku blushed slightly. "//Ahh yes, it's one of those strange alternate universe type things that happen alot here at Fandom,//" he explained.

Tamaki nodded, although he did not understand in the least.

"//Do you think you'd need any help with the Host Club?//" He asked casually. "//It might help Teddy to be less nervous.//"

"//Are you saying you'd like to be a Host?//" Tamaki actually looked hopeful, even flattered.

"//I was sent to this school to learn new things, and this would be new,//" Haku reasoned.

"//That's great! What are your unique qualities, then, Haku?//"

"//I look like a girl,//" Haku shrugged with a slight blush. "//It might make some girls feel much more comfortable around me, more likely to open up? ~~I can also create ice, so I can keep their berverages cool~~"
