Karal had managed to tame his hair since returning from his impromptu worlds tour with Jeff. It no longer looked as if it was set to launch a bid for world domination at any moment, and that could only be a good thing.

There was still no sign of Altra, though, which was a slight worry. As he sipped his morning tea and opened the library, he decided not to worry about it -- the Firecat would return in his own time.

"Those I'm used to," he said, and laughed, surprised to find himself actually looking forward to this. "When should we start?"

Dean grinned. "What are you doing this weekend?"

"I suspect I will be getting slightly bruised." He didn't look at all unhappy about it. "Tomorrow, perhaps?"

"It's a date." Dean paused. "Though not an actual date date... My love life's kinda complicated enough already."

Karal laughed. "Oh, glory, no, not a date," he agreed. "At the gym?"

"Good place to start," Dean said. "We'll see what you know already and go from there."

"I'll be there, ready to learn," he promised, wishing he'd actually practised what he'd been taught since he'd come to Fandom.

Dean held up the book Karal had given him. "And I'll read this and let you know if I have any questions." He smirked. "You can even quiz me."

"I'm not going to quiz you," he laughed. "But I will explain if any of it is at all unclear."

"I probably will have questions," Dean admitted. "This whole religion thing is, well, kinda new territory."

"Which is why it's so important that you ask those questions. So you don't rush into something without knowing what it involves."

"Yeah, becuase it's not like I've ever done that before."

Karal shook his head in amusement. "Well, I'm not going to let you do it with this."

"Y'know, that's kinda the exact opposite of what I'd expect," Dean said. "What with religion being all about blind faith and all."

"If a religion asks blind faith of you, it is not to be trusted, whether it is the god or men who are corrupt. Any true faith, one that is worthy of being followed, should encourage questions. Vkandis Sunlord welcomes only those who come to him with full knowledge and of their own will."

Dean chuckled. "Sounds like there will be pop quizes," he joked.

"Maybe just one," he laughed.

"I wonder if gods mark with a red pen."

Karal gaped at him, then started to laugh, torn between shock and amusement at the near-blasphemy. Amusement won easily.

Dean cocked his head to the side. "Little gold flame stickers if you do a good job?"

"Stop," he gasped. "You'll be the death of me."

Dean smirked. "And if you get enough flame stickers you can trade them in for your very own firecat."

"Oh, Dean." He managed to get himself under control, breathless from laughing. "That one you have to tell Altra."

"Sure," Dean said easily. "Where is the big cat anyway? Isn't he usually wherever you are?"

"I'm not sure. I haven't seen him since I got back from the unexpected holiday," he explained. "But I'm sure he's fine, wherever he is. He has his own business to attend to."
