Driver's Ed [Wednesday, Period Four]

The Dangershop was set up similarly to last week, although the Bentley was back on the ground.

"Today we'll be covering some of the basics of car maintenance," Bond started, after everyone had arrived. "Now, obviously, the best way to keep your car in top condition is to regularly utilise the services of a skilled mechanic, but there are a number of things you can do yourself to help ensure that your car is unlikely to develop major faults in the meantime."

"If you look at the handouts I have provided, you will find some on the upkeep of a vehicle's interior and exterior, those I would like you read up on for homework, as we will be working on the third which is a simple maintenance checklist," he said, before launching into an explanation of the various procedures described on the handout, demonstrating the techniques on the Bentley. "Now this is by no means a complete checklist, but it is enough to give you a grounding in the subject."

"Now, I'd like you divide up again, different groups from last week though, and go through the checklist together."

Take notes, talk, wonder at the number of handouts you're getting.

Amber didn't mind the handouts. She found them very useful. She just wanted to know when they were finally going to get to drive. And, eh, were they going to get to drive the Bentley? Oh my gosh, she could just see herself behind the wheel of that car. Oh man. Bet she could pick up some cute guys. Not that she would. Just sayin.

Dawn took detailed, careful notes, but it was probably obvious to certain people that her mind wasn't really on the lecture and that she hadn't slept much the night before.

Sam definitely noticed, and felt more than appropriately guilty.

Liz took detailed notes.

Jack took copious notes....and kinda wished for more handouts. Maybe some more checklists, some how-to guides...

Different partners to last week!

Amber waited for a partner.

Jenny nodded to Amber and asked her, "You wanna partner up for this?"

"Sure," she said, smiling. "That'd be great. I'm Amber Atkins, by the way."

"Jenny Sparks. D'you know anything about cars?" Jenny asked.

"A little about checkin the oil, but that's it. You?"

"I'm good with electrical systems," Jenny offered, "but I don't think that's within the scope of this assignment."

"Nah, probably not so much. But I bet we can manage the checklist fairly easy if we follow directions."

"Great." Jenny gestured to the Bentley. "Shall we?"

Marco had absolutely no interest in the upkeep of the car, as the dead eyed stare ahead probably revealed.

"You look like you're having fun," Lee said, wandering over.

"Cars are for driving, other people are for trying to make them work." Marco informed him.

"What if you get stranded and need to make it work yourself?"

"Triple A." Marco replied instantly. "Cell phones should get popular at home in about half a year."

Dōjima glanced around, hoping to find someone fun to work with.

Robin was often fun. "Hi!"

Jack was not bouncing over the car stuff. Really.
