How to Survive Your Own Cooking [Class 4]

"The business of the day is stew," Lulu began. "Most stews are thickened with flour, or occasionally corn starch; this recipe is one I prefer, in which the barley, and to a lesser extent the rice and lentils, thicken the stew on their own. Stews usually take much longer to make than would be available in a class period -- so, instead, thanks to some interesting functions I found here in the home ec lab la la handwavy Fandom magic la la, each cooking phase, which normally takes 25 minutes for this particular recipe, will instead take only 7. This should give you plenty of time to complete the stew during this class period."

Lulu went over the recipe, explaining what each of the different terms -- such as 'simmer' -- meant. "Also," she said, "you will be making biscuits to go along with the stew. Everything you need is available at your stations. Please, pair up -- again, with a new partner, someone you haven't yet worked with -- and go to your stations."

[Plz to be waiting for OCD is up!]

"Bars? No, bro, not unless you count the ones keeping people from falling in, you know?" That kind of fall would suck.

"It just sounded like something unpleasant from home. Sorry."

He pointed to the class sheets.

"We should probably get started."

Mikey glanced at the sheets, then nodded his head.

"Dude, right. Stew." .... "Tell me I can't burn the place down making stew, man?"

"I won't let you," he said.

He couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"Why everyone seems to think they're going to burn something down doing simple cooking, I don't know. If I can do it, idiot that I am, anyone can. It just takes a little bit of patience and some sense."

He started assembling things.

Mikey shuffled over to peer before Liir's shoulder.

"Dude, whoever told you you're an idiot seriously needs some kinda personality adjustment." He reached across the counter to grab a potato. "So, this stew thing is pretty easy, then? Awesome. I'll totally follow your lead."

Apparently, he needed a personality adjustment. Or the Witch did.

Well, he was the only one alive for one so he supposed it was him.

"It's easy enough. Mostly it involves putting all of the ingredients into a pot and letting it cook."

He looked at the recipe.

"I'm going to add a little butter to this," he said critically. "It always seemed to make the taste a little smoother."

Then he started to go to work on the vegetables with a surprisingly able hand.

"Did you want to start collecting things for the biscuits?"

"Oooh, I can totally do that," Mikey agreed, taking a glance at the recipe before bouncing off to gather the flour and other assorted powdery things which would somehow combine to create the breadlike goodness that was a biscuit.

Cooking, Mikey decided, was awesome.
