How to Survive Your Own Cooking [Class 4]

"The business of the day is stew," Lulu began. "Most stews are thickened with flour, or occasionally corn starch; this recipe is one I prefer, in which the barley, and to a lesser extent the rice and lentils, thicken the stew on their own. Stews usually take much longer to make than would be available in a class period -- so, instead, thanks to some interesting functions I found here in the home ec lab la la handwavy Fandom magic la la, each cooking phase, which normally takes 25 minutes for this particular recipe, will instead take only 7. This should give you plenty of time to complete the stew during this class period."

Lulu went over the recipe, explaining what each of the different terms -- such as 'simmer' -- meant. "Also," she said, "you will be making biscuits to go along with the stew. Everything you need is available at your stations. Please, pair up -- again, with a new partner, someone you haven't yet worked with -- and go to your stations."

Hitting the ground with Demyx tangled up with her, Cassandra's response was immediate. Her body went rigid and her arm snapped out to shove him as hard as she could in order to open up some space between them. She scrambled on the wet floor, trying to get to her feet as her arms drew up in front of her defensively and her eyes widened as if she expected an attack.

"Ow!" Demyx curled up in a defensive ball. "What was that fooooooorr?"

"Sorry," Cassandra mumbled, breath a bit ragged. "I... have problems with people being too close." Violent problems, apparently.

"I...guess so?" Demyx winced, dragging himself to his hands and knees. "Ow."

"Sorry," she repeated.

Then she blinked up at the pot. "I think we're done here?" It wasn't stew, but... close enough, right?

"It's okay. I'm kinda used to it." Demyx managed a smile, standing up properly. "Done is good!"

"Okay. Good. Um..." she looked around to see if anyone was watching. "I'll let you clean up then."

And she took off for the door.

Demyx shifted from foot to foot, very wet now, but not uncomfortable, other than the bruises. "Oh, okay. I can do that."

His sitar had disappeared in the collision, and it wasn't difficult for Demyx to vaporize the water on the floor and in the pot, then follow Cassandra through the door and blessed freedom.
