The classroom today was a bit different. The desks were all paired off, and for each set there was a strange spinny thing, a small set of tools and a question sheet.

Glitch was at the front of the class, standing at a bit of a distance from the desk. It might want some space after last week.

"Today, you'll be taking apart those mini sterling engines , putting them back together, and filling out the worksheet. Don't worry too much about the questions and just answer them as best you can. Sorry, but, you'll have to work in teams for it because I didn't have enough to go around." He gave them an apologetic smile. "When you're finished, bring it and your answers to my desk and pick up one of these packets to go over."

He picked one up from the top of the pile before finally sitting at his desk. "I'll be here to answer any questions during and after class. I'll be in my office tomorrow, too, if you need anything then." He sat back a bit and started to read over the packet again to refresh his synapses if there were any questions.

Mac picked a desk and examined the gadget. Neat.

Andrew sat down across from Mac. "You know how these kind of things work, right?"

"Vaguely," Mac replied, glancing up at him. "Can't say I've ever taken one apart, but I think... We can work it out."

"It's kind of funny looking," Andrew commented poking at the thing. "What do you think needs to come off first?"

He picked up a tool, and smiled in anticipation of deconstructing the engine.

"Probably the bottom," Mac said thoughtfully. "That's always the thing with laptops, anyway."

"That's really the only thing I have practise taking apart. Computers."

"I've taken plenty of things apart," Andrew admitted. "I've just never been very successful at putting them back together." He thought it over and set down the tool.

"Maybe I should just watch you."

"Well, you said you could take them apart," Mac said. "So how about you do that part?"

"Done and done," Andrew replied with gusto. He grabbed a screwdriver, the little engine, and started removing things.

"What's this do again?" It's totally possible his attention had been directed elsewhere and he completely missed the lecture.

"Uses the heat from your palm to... do that spinny thing." There didn't seem any better way to explain it, and Mac had been paying attention.

"Oh." Andrew paused his screw removal to hold the device in his palm. Apparently he hadn't done too much damage to the thing yet as after a moment, it started to spin. "Cool!"

The spinning was pretty.

"It's pretty impressive," Mac agreed. "If only everything worked like that. No more battery worries."

"But then that poor little pink bunny that bangs the drum would be out of a job," Andrew pointed out. "And he's getting pretty old. I mean, but now he's probably got at least a hundred college bound little ones hopping around."

Mac laughed and nodded. "Yeah, I suppose we should really think of the bunny before we make any groundbreaking inventions."

"This would also be a really handy vampire detector," he commented, watching it spin. "Seeing as how they're pretty much room temperature."

He paused. "Though I guess getting them to hold on to it while you wait to see if it starts working might be a little tricky."
