Tactics 201, Thursday Period Two, 24/01

There was a series of very colorful expletives guiding Kerrigan into the Danger Shop this morning as she paced in a few minutes late. As far as she was concerned, this was a major crime against all things right with the world, but then so was the absence of a syllabus--

"Oh, to hell with it," she muttered, pressing two fingers to her forehead. "Hey, class. Today, we deal with defensive installations. As you can see, the sim's set up in your typical Badlands danger area. Your mission for today, and I don't care if you want to take it or not, is to find a partner and set yourself up a suitable bunker area to defend the base behind you. We'll look into the theoreticals next week."

Wait. Next week. Aly. Oh, crap. "...We'll look into the theoreticals two weeks from now. Right now, I'm just curious to see how many of you make it out alive." Beat. "Thank you, Booth."

She moved out of sight. Probably in the general direction of the coffee machine.

[ wait for the ocd up! ]

Sokka looked around for a group of marines to drag along. "You guys! You're with me!"

Hopefully, the simulation wasn't programmed to remember him from week to week.

"Oooh, commanding," Triela teased. She slotted into place at Sokka's shoulder and looked over her gear. "Do you know anything about this Ghost stuff? I was kind of hoping the Lieutenant would give me a rundown, but she doesn't look too helpful today."

"Oh! Yeah, we used it last semester. It's AWESOME!!!" Sokka poked at the panel on her forearm -- which also controlled things like her heads-up display (including map of the surrounding area), communications, and other basic suit controls. "You just hit this button and you turn invisible!" he told her. "But watch your battery power; it only lasts for so long."

[I think I'm remembering this from last semester correctly? Kerrigan, please correct me if I'm wrong.]

"Pretty," Triela grinned as she started to familiarize herself with controls and information. She wasn't used to dealing with this much area information so she fiddled with things until she got most of the displays to disappear.

"I don't think we've met, by the way," she said as she hefted her rifle. "I'm Triela."

"Sokka," he replied, resting his own gun on his shoulder and holding out his hand. "You any good with a gun? If not, now's the time to learn."

"I'm pretty good," Triela said offhandedly. The understatement was mostly because she hadn't used a cannister rifle before and didn't want to embarrass herself if she had trouble figuring it out.

"I'm pretty decent at the trigger myself," Sokka bragged. "That's good. We're good, then. You'll be able to tell who's on our side, because the badguys are creepy monster things."

"Oh, I saw some of those last time we were here. They're pretty fast, huh?"
