My Country - Week 2 - Friday Period 3

As the students came in Yondaime was at the front of the class tacking up a large map of some made up world. He smiled at everyone once he was done. “Well like the syllabus promises, today you are getting your countries and naming them,” he explained. “Each country has a number corresponding to it and you’ll find out which is your country by looking at the number taped down on your desk. Also each country has a strength and a weakness and the two smallest countries have two strengths to make up for being so small.” Yondaime shrugged. “It only seemed fair.”

“As for names, the sky is the limit,” he grinned. “I don’t care if you call your country the ‘land of rainbows and glitter. Usually though a countries name reflects the country… with the exception of Greenland and Iceland, I don’t understand those ones, but I don’t think that will matter much here. Once you’ve got a name for your country you can come up and write it on the map then meet with the countries that border yours.”

"Beg pardon?" Ronan asked, blinking at the girl who'd soaked him the weekend before.

"You wanted to start over. My name is Cimorene." This is as much an apology he was going to get. As well as the container that was being waved in his general direction.

Ronan smiled softly. "Ah, yes. Well, thank you, Cimorene. What's this?" he added, taking the container.

"Chocolate mousse. Isabel said you like spicy food, so I tried." Again, as close to an apology as he's getting.

"... Spicy chocolate mousse?" Ronan hastily opened the container, dipping one finger in and tasting the sweet and spicy concoction. "Cimorene? I think you may be my new best friend."

"It was an experiment." Cimorene said and sat down. "I'm good at the chocolate mousse part, I wasn't quite sure how to make it spicy."

"Coragriffone," Ronan said, his Irish lilt making music of the faux-Italian name. "Something I came up with when I was a kid."
