Sneaky Spycraft: Period 4, Week 2

Carrying a bag full of what looked like heavy objects, Aly made her way into the classroom just as class started.  "Hey guys, change of plans.  If you all would follow me down to the Danger Shop?"

She led the class down to the Danger Shop and pushed open the door.  The room was outfitted  like a dance studio.  Mirrors, barre, sprung floor, and all.  Aly waited at the door to make sure every student got in, and none escaped once they saw what was in the room.

Shutting the door behind her, Aly made her way to the center of the room.   "Right.  This wasn't the original plan, but then the dancing on Saturday made me reconsider.  In this class, we're going to start with the most basic techniques and hopefully progress steadily towards the more complex over the course of the term.  And today, we're going to start with the most basic of all.  Movement."

"Controlled movement, complete control over each muscle is necessary to move silently, to climb well, to fight, to keep your hands steady,"  she grinned quickly.  "You get my drift, right?  It just so happens that one of the best way to work on movement control is through dancing."  And now Aly looked even more amused.  "So, that's what we're going to do today."

Aly raised an eyebrow at Teddy.  "Want to come up and help me?"  It wasn't really a question and soon Aly was reminding Teddy just to follow her lead.  They demonstrated a trio of dances that, while simple, relying on paired movement and working with your partner, not against him or her.

After the demonstration, she turned back to the class.  "There you are.  Pair up, give it a try.  If there are any questions, feel free to ask."  Aly grinned.  "And before anyone asks, yes, there are a number of other ways to train your muscles to control movement.  Martial arts is one, tai chi is one, simple repetition of movement until it's in muscle memory is one.  But I like dancing.  And you all should know how to dance anyway," she teased.

[OOC:  This class is totally all [personal profile] mouthy_merc's fault for telling me Teddy needed some embarrassment.  She also gave permission for Teddy!modding of the not dirty fashion.  Please to be waiting for the OOC is up, my friends.]

Jenny stared at the room, her expression perfectly flat, as she contemplated calling up a door to anywhere but here.

At least there was no stripper pole this time--wait, no. That wasn't a good thing.

This was going to be interesting, Coraline decided. She wasn't taking notes, though. Mostly she was bouncing on her heels, enjoying the springiness of the floor.

Seregil thought what Aly was saying was perfectly true and had no problem with dancing. It was, beyond helping with muscle coordination, a skill one may need to blend in when trying to be someone else. And dancing, in some ways, could be like sword fighting without the sword.

He didn't take any notes, but he did watch closely and carefully.

Because she was still the most awesome teacher ever, in Anders's book, that was why.

Besides, footwork? He could totally do this, no sweat.

. . . Anders was a little cocky sometimes.

Okay, a lot.

Sokka stared at her. And gaped.

And then raised his hand. "What's in the bag? Can we do that instead?"

Inara was excited by the assignment--not only did it make sense, but she should also be reasonably good at it.
